Role Description
This is an on-site, full-time position based in Ranchi for a General Manager – Steel Plant Operations (Induction Furnace & Rolling Mill). The General Manager will oversee daily plant operations, including monitoring production processes, ensuring efficiency, managing the induction furnace and rolling mill functions, and adhering to quality standards. Additional responsibilities include team supervision, financial management, resource planning, and fostering continuous process improvements to achieve operational excellence. The role requires collaboration with different departments to optimize production targets and ensure compliance with company policies and industry regulations.
Key Responsibilities
• Oversee end-to-end operations of the steel plant including Induction Furnace, CCM, and Rolling Mill.
• Ensure efficient production planning and execution to meet daily and monthly targets.
• Monitor raw material procurement and consumption (sponge iron, scrap, ferro alloys, billets, etc.).
• Maintain quality standards for billets, TMT bars, channels, and angles.
• Implement cost control and process optimization to improve plant productivity.
• Ensure plant safety, compliance, and environmental standards are followed.
• Manage and lead production, maintenance, and technical teams.
• Coordinate with sales and dispatch teams for smooth order fulfillment.
• Drive continuous improvement in furnace efficiency and rolling mill output.
• Maintain proper reporting, MIS, and plant performance metrics.
Requirements
• 10–20 years of experience in steel manufacturing industry.
• Strong experience in Induction Furnace, Billet Casting, and Rolling Mill operations.
• Proven leadership in managing large plant teams and production targets.
• Strong knowledge of steel production processes, maintenance, and quality control.
• Ability to handle plant operations independently.
Preferred Background
• Experience in TMT bars / structural steel manufacturing.
• Experience working with secondary steel plants.
