Robotics Engineering is seeking an Entry-Level / Semi-Skilled Engineer to join our team.
The Robotics Engineering Group provides continued support to ongoing automation and robotic shipyard operations as well as addresses emerging construction and business needs. This organization focuses on developing robotic systems and applications to support production. The group is responsible for implementation, hardware / software selection, system / process expertise, and construction support. Group members serve as subject matter experts on robotics and automation and are a resource for identifying and exploiting robotics opportunities at Electric Boat. Robotic Engineering drives projects and new technology insertion, ensures requirements are met, develops procedures, procures machines, performs / tests capabilities, and implements robotic and automated systems.
Core functionalities will include:
- Identifying Robotic Opportunities in the Quonset Point, Groton and off-site facilities to include concept development, business justification and prototypes
- Developing System Specifications, Evaluating Industry Technology and Vendor Capabilities, Testing Requirements, Facility Requirements and Training Requirements
- Working with Vendors to Develop Custom Robotic Systems / Solution
- Performing hands on Robotic On-site Development and Capability Testing
- Developing Hardware, Creating Software, Programming and Writing Technical Documentation
- Implementing systems and providing deck-plate support of robotics and automation
- Work with Electric Boats' design and engineering communities to identify and recommend changes to take full advantage of automated manufacturing
- Leading projects and interfacing with multiple stakeholders from Engineering, Operations, Program Management and the Navy Customer
