Role Description The General Duty Medical Officer is a full-time, on-site role based at Meitra Hospital in Kozhikode. The role involves providing comprehensive medical care to inpatients and outpatients, including assessing, diagnosing, and managing a wide range of clinical conditions under established protocols. Responsibilities include monitoring patient progress, updating medical records, coordinating investigations, and ensuring timely interventions in collaboration with specialists. The General Duty Medical Officer will participate in ward rounds, support emergency and critical care teams as needed, and assist in pre- and post-operative management. The role also includes educating patients and families on treatment plans, promoting adherence to clinical guidelines, and contributing to quality improvement and infection control initiatives.
Qualifications
- MBBS
- Demonstrated Patient Care skills, with a focus on safety, empathy, communication, and continuity of care.
- Ability to assist with Surgery-related care, including pre-operative assessment, post-operative monitoring, and coordination with surgical teams.
- Experience Working with Physicians and multidisciplinary teams, ensuring effective collaboration and timely escalation of care.
- Capability to provide Training and clinical guidance to junior staff, interns, and nursing teams when required.
- Recognized medical degree MBBS with registration
- Prior hospital or acute care experience, preferably in a tertiary or quaternary care setting, is an advantage.
- Willingness to work in shifts, including weekends and nights, and adapt to high-acuity clinical environments.
- Proficiency in medical documentation, use of hospital information systems, and adherence to infection control and safety protocols.
