The Role:
We are hiring a motion designer with a strong short-form advertising background to lead the visual work on an early-stage generative video product. The role combines hands-on motion design with close collaboration with the ML Engineer on model output quality and with the Ad Creative Strategist on visual style analysis. Reference clips and feedback produced in this role directly inform what the video model is trained on and how its output is judged.
Key Responsibilities:
• Review AI-generated video outputs — provide specific, actionable feedback on visual quality, motion, composition, and creative intent that the ML Engineer can act on directly.
• Produce reference clips - shoot and edit the initial library of short-form reference clips that feeds the video model fine-tuning dataset.
• Visual style analysis - work with the Ad Creative Strategist to define the named visual styles the team and the models use to categorise outputs.
• Reference library curation - build and maintain a reference library of short-form ad material organised by category, style, brand archetype, and performance.
• Failure analysis - partner with the ML Engineer to diagnose whether an issue lives in the training data, the prompt, or the model itself, and recommend the next experiment.
• Creative QA - review all generated outputs for quality before they reach a demo, pitch, or customer, and maintain a clear quality bar.
• Process and tooling - define templates, file conventions, and production workflows so reference output stays consistent as the team grows.
Required Skills & Experience:
• Motion design craft - professional fluency in After Effects, DaVinci Resolve, and CapCut Pro (or close equivalents).
• Short-form ad production - a strong portfolio across Reels, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, or Meta Ads, with ownership of concept through final delivery.
• Visual storytelling - able to clearly articulate why a piece of content works and to communicate that reasoning to a technical team.
• Style guide creation - experience building visual style guides, brand systems, or style reference libraries.
• 4+ years of experience - as a motion designer, video editor, or visual content creator producing short-form advertising at scale.
• Familiarity with AI-generated video - comfortable working with AI-generated content and clear-eyed about its current limitations.
• Collaboration - experienced working directly with engineers and giving concrete, structured creative feedback.
Nice to Have:
• Hands-on prompting experience with image and video generation models - Midjourney, Runway, Kling, Pika,
Sora, Veo.
• Experience labelling or curating datasets for machine-learning pipelines.
• Background in advertising, branding, or agency work at scale.
• Comfort with basic scripting or no-code automation to speed up repetitive tasks.
