About Gem Prep

Gem Prep is a K-12 college preparatory school. Our goal is to have all secondary students graduate from high school with an associate degree. Our elementary program builds a strong academic foundation for grades 6-12.

Position Summary

Gem Prep teachers plan and deliver high-quality instruction while setting ambitious goals and using data to guide student mastery of grade-level standards. They create engaging, organized classrooms with high expectations, use diverse strategies to support academic and character development, and communicate progress with students and families. Teachers collaborate with colleagues, participate in professional learning, and contribute to a strong school community to ensure every student succeeds.

Key Responsibilities

Planning & Preparation

  • Set ambitious, measurable academic goals
  • Prepare lesson plans and internalize the content for all lessons taught
  • Structure instructional time across digital tools and group work
  • Utilize assessment data to monitor and support student progress, guide instructional decisions, and reflect on the success of your instruction

Classroom Environment

  • Maintain high expectations for behavior and engagement
  • Create a classroom that supports collaboration and individual learning
  • Foster respect, enthusiasm, and a strong student-teacher rapport

Instruction

  • Ensure that ALL students master grade-level standards
  • Cultivate student success by developing social-behavioral competencies
  • Develop students’ organizational and time-management skills
  • Engage students using diverse instructional strategies
  • Communicate progress with students and parents

Professional Responsibilities

  • Accept and act upon feedback to continuously improve your teaching practices
  • Collaborate with colleagues to analyze data, group students, and plan interventions
  • Participate in professional development and school events
  • Provide student support outside of regular classroom hours
  • Contribute to student recruitment, marketing initiatives, and graduation activities

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Valid Idaho teaching certificate in the content area for the job or the ability to obtain one.

Salary Schedule
182 Day Calendar

certification provided they posses a masters degree in the field of
service for which they have been hired.
Any staff member who has not provided official transcripts to
support their placement on the salary schedule will be placed at the
Alt Auth step.
Transcripts will be accepted for placement and movement
on the salary schedule up to September 15th, after which
placement will be frozen for the year.
To move a step down on the salary schedule a staff member must
work a 0.5 FTE or greater calendar in the previous school year.
Returning staff will advance to the next cell on their respective placement
column/lane provided they met the performance criteria defined by both
the State of Idaho and Gem Prep in the previous year.
Otherwise the staff member will remain in the cell held in the previous year.
Placement and movement on the salary schedule is governed by the
Staff Salary Schedule Placement Playbook
A new hire's placement can not exceed the highest placed rung in their
respectivesalary schedule lane, thus they may not participate in the
"years beyond" stipend.
