About the role
Gelber Group is a Chicago-based global proprietary trading company known for its innovative approach in the trading industry. As a Junior Technical Operations Software Engineer, you will collaborate with various teams to enhance operational processes, manage deployments, and troubleshoot issues in a fast-paced trading environment.
Responsibilities
Actively manage and implement strategic improvements to all processes enabling Gelber tech and trading team operations, including investigating production events in our environment and coordinating firm-wide incident management
Design and implement continuous updates to Gelber's operational processes in an effort to continually improve daily tech and trading efficiency
Automating and streamlining Gelber's applications, processes, and systems
Actively manage deployments for the firm into Gelber's production environment
Troubleshooting through complex problems
Work collaboratively with members of trading, development, enterprise technology, and IT operations to establish best practices and enable them to do their best work
Manage access and maintenance to a wide variety of third-party applications
Own services from conception to deployment

Required
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, or a related field
0-3 years of work experience and a strong ability to learn
Experience working with Python
Strong critical thinking skills and sense of urgency when it comes to support
Great communication skills, inquisitive nature, and formidable attention to detail
Relentless pursuit of answers
Must be able to be on call for after-hours support for 2 weeks at a time, with 6-8 weeks off
Eagerness to solve problems and a strong desire to automate your work with a reluctance to do repetitive tasks
The ability to analyze and solve problems promptly and accurately in a fast-paced environment
Mental flexibility - ability to adapt based on new data, results, and feedback from stakeholders
Creative problem solving and probabilistic thinking - you must enjoy learning and implementing new concepts quickly, combining knowledge from different domains to create new ideas, and take a data-driven and probabilistic approach to testing and implementing new ideas
Preferred
Understanding C#, Java, or SQL
General understanding of Windows and Linux administration, familiarity with Linux shell or bash
