JOB FUNCTION AND SCOPE
The District Specification Manager is responsible for driving product specifications across the New York Metro market by engaging architects, developers, and engineers throughout the design and construction lifecycle. This role focuses on influencing project decisions upstream—positioning Geberit solutions during the concept, design development, and engineering phases to secure long-term specification adoption.
This individual will build and manage strategic relationships with key A&D firms, developers, and engineering consultants, becoming a trusted technical resource and product expert. The role requires proactive identification, tracking, and advancement of project opportunities, ensuring specifications are written, maintained, and successfully executed through construction.
The District Specification Manager will collaborate cross-functionally with internal sales teams and external channel partners (distributors, wholesalers, and showrooms) to ensure alignment between specification activity and project fulfillment. This includes technical support, training, and project follow-through to protect specifications and drive conversion to revenue.
Success in this role is measured by specification growth, project pipeline development, specification retention, and overall market penetration within the New York Metro area.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Specification Development & Project Influence
Proactively identify and engage architects, developers, and engineers to influence product specifications at the earliest stages of project design.
- Build and maintain a robust pipeline of active and future projects within the New York Metro market.
- Track project lifecycles from concept through completion, ensuring specifications are secured and upheld.
- Position Geberit solutions as the preferred system through technical expertise and design integration support.
- Drive specification adoption across targeted top-tier and mid-tier A&D firms and developer groups.
- Participate as an active member in organizations such as NEWH, IDS, AIA, and NNG.
A&D and Developer Relationship Management
- Establish and cultivate long-term relationships with key decision-makers in architecture firms, development companies, and engineering organizations.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for design and technical consultation.
- Conduct in-person and virtual meetings, presentations, and design reviews with A&D stakeholders.
- Deliver CEU presentations and tailored educational sessions to increase product awareness and adoption.
Technical Expertise & Design Support
- Provide technical guidance and application support to architects, engineers, and project teams.
- Assist with specifications, drawings, and system design to ensure proper integration of Geberit products.
- Support complex or non-standard applications with tailored solutions.
- Act as liaison between design teams and Geberit technical resources.
Channel Alignment & Project Execution
- Partner with the New York Metro sales team to ensure alignment of project specifications with distributors, wholesalers, and showrooms.
- Support channel partners in converting specifications into orders and executing sales.
- Provide product training and project updates to ensure successful fulfillment.
- Monitor and protect specifications through the bid and construction phases.
Market Intelligence & Strategic Planning
- Gather and communicate market insights, including competitive activity, project trends, and customer needs.
- Develop and execute territory plans targeting high-value firms and projects.
- Maintain accurate CRM data on projects, contacts, and activity.
Other Duties
- Perform additional responsibilities as required to support regional and organizational objectives.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
- 5+ years of experience in specification sales, technical sales, or A&D engagement
- Strong understanding of the construction lifecycle and specification process
- Experience working with architects, developers, and engineers
