Role Description This is a full-time, on-site role based in Coimbatore, focused on gearbox design and development for industrial applications. The role involves designing gearboxes and gear components, selecting appropriate materials and manufacturing processes, and ensuring performance, reliability, and safety standards are met. The team member will use software tools such as KissDesign, KissSoft, and SolidWorks to perform gear design calculations, modeling, and simulations, and to prepare detailed 3D models and engineering drawings. Day-to-day responsibilities include collaborating with manufacturing, quality, and project teams, reviewing customer specifications, supporting prototype development and testing, and participating in design reviews and continuous improvement initiatives. The role also includes documentation of design decisions, maintaining design standards, and providing technical support during installation and service as needed.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in gear design principles, gearbox configuration, and gear manufacturing processes, with practical experience in industrial applications.
- Proficiency in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) tools, particularly SolidWorks, for 3D modeling, assemblies, and detailed engineering drawings.
- Hands-on experience with specialized gear design and analysis software such as KissDesign and KissSoft for gear sizing, rating, and performance validation.
- Ability to conduct technical Research related to materials, standards, and emerging gear technologies to improve product performance and reliability.
- Understanding of Graphics and Graphic Design concepts as applied to technical documentation, schematics, and visual communication of design intent.
- Knowledge of mechanical Architecture and system integration, ensuring gearboxes interface correctly with drives, shafts, and connected equipment.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
- Familiarity with relevant standards (e.g., ISO, AGMA) and basic finite element or strength analysis for gear and housing components.
- Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams on-site in Coimbatore.
- Experience in heavy industry sectors (such as power, steel, cement, sugar, or aviation) is an advantage.
