About the role

The Advanced Lead Engineer – Emerging Technologies is responsible for Mechanical Design of Aircraft Jet Engine Rotors from conceptual design phase supporting RISE technology programs at GE Aerospace Bangalore Engineering Center. Work in this role has the objective of demonstrating the feasibility of concept through analyses and test. This role reports to the Sub Section Manager for Advanced Mechanical Design - Hot section ( HPT & TVF ) This role is responsible for execution of mechanical design with some autonomy but guided by established practices, policies, or review of end results. The job allows modification of procedures and practices while meeting standards of acceptability. Welch Technology Center (JFWTC) in Bengaluru is our multidisciplinary research and engineering center. Engineers and scientists at JFWTC have contributed to hundreds of aviation patents, pioneering breakthroughs in engine technologies, advanced materials, and additive manufacturing. Roles and Responsibilities Involves in design and development of aircraft engines components from conceptual design phase till testing and validation of concepts. Utilizes in-depth knowledge of a technical discipline, analytical thinking and technical experience to execute projects/programs. Owns and leads programs with low risk and resource requirements and functionally acts independently following established practices. Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience. Explains information; developing skills to bring team members to consensus around topics within field. Responsible to develop project plan and execute as per plan. Expected to leverage the LEAN principles and tools while executing projects. Has knowledge of best practices and able to work with adjacencies and multidisciplinary team; is aware of the competition and the factors that differentiate them in the market. Uses some judgment and has some ability to propose different solutions outside of set parameters to address more complicated manufacturing and design processes. Uses technical experience and analytical thinking. Uses multiple internal and limited external sources outside of own teams to arrive at decisions. Required Qualifications MTech (Master of Technology)/ MS (Master of Science) in Mechanical / Aerospace Engineering from an accredited university 8+ years of experience in mechanical design and analyses of gas turbine rotor components Experience in tools: Ansys and Unigraphics Desired Characteristics Humble: respectful, receptive, agile, eager to learn Transparent: shares critical information, speaks with candor, contributes constructively Focused: quick learner, strategically prioritizes work, committed Leadership ability: strong communicator, decision-maker, collaborative Problem solver: analytical-minded, challenges existing processes, critical thinker.
