Job Summary
The Lead Platform Engineering – GCC is responsible for managing a team of engineers providing Tier 1 and Tier 2 operational support across enterprise infrastructure platforms, including VMware, Cisco UCS, Microsoft Windows Server, Azure Cloud, and Unix/Linux systems.
This role ensures reliable day-to-day operations, timely incident resolution, and alignment with US-based engineering teams. The position is execution-focused, emphasizing operational excellence, technical troubleshooting, and team leadership within a global delivery model.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership
- Manage and lead a team of approximately 8 engineers supporting multiple infrastructure towers including Windows, Unix/Linux, VMware, Azure, and UCS
- Assign and prioritize daily operational work, ensuring timely and accurate execution
- Act as escalation point for complex infrastructure issues
- Maintain alignment with US-based leadership through regular communication and reporting
Infrastructure Operations
- Support VMware environments including hosts, clusters, and virtual machines
- Support Cisco UCS compute infrastructure including hardware troubleshooting and lifecycle coordination
- Administer Microsoft Windows Server environments including Active Directory and system maintenance
- Support Azure IaaS environments including virtual machines and core services
- Manage Unix/Linux systems including patching, monitoring, and administration
- Execute standard procedures for provisioning, patching, upgrades, and decommissioning
Incident, Problem, and Change Management
- Respond to incidents, perform troubleshooting, and drive resolution
- Support root cause analysis and contribute to problem management activities
- Execute approved changes in compliance with change management processes
- Maintain accurate documentation of incidents and resolutions
Vendor Coordination
- Open and manage support cases with vendors including Microsoft, Red Hat, VMware/Broadcom, and Cisco
- Work with vendors to troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure issues
- Track vendor cases through to resolution
Operational Excellence
- Follow and enforce standard operating procedures and runbooks
- Ensure compliance with patching, security, and operational standards
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency gains
- Contribute to documentation and knowledge sharing

Required Qualifications
- 8 or more years of experience in infrastructure engineering or platform operations
- 2 or more years of experience leading technical teams in a global delivery model
- Hands-on experience with VMware virtualization platforms
- Hands-on experience with Cisco UCS compute infrastructure
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Windows Server and Active Directory
- Hands-on experience with Azure Cloud services focused on IaaS
- Hands-on experience with Unix/Linux systems with preference for RHEL
- Strong troubleshooting skills across compute, operating systems, and virtualization layers
- Experience working with enterprise vendors and managing support cases
- Working knowledge of ITIL processes including incident, problem, and change management
- Strong communication and coordination skills across global teams
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in a Global Capability Center environment
- Exposure to infrastructure automation tools such as Ansible or Terraform
- Experience supporting hybrid infrastructure environments across on-premises and cloud
Work Conditions
- Standard India business hours with limited overlap required with US based team
- Participation in escalation support as needed
