Position Overview:
The Parks & Recreation Department is seeking dependable and friendly individuals to serve as Concession Stand Assistants. This position is ideal for high school students looking to gain valuable work experience in customer service, food handling, and teamwork. Concession Stand Assistants help provide a welcoming environment for guests while supporting food and beverage operations at multiple recreation facilities.
Work schedules will primarily include afternoons and weekends, with hours based on seasonal program activity. Typical weekly hours range from 5–10 hours, depending on department needs and facility usage.

Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with daily operations of concession stands at the Radcliff Center Café, Ice Arena Snack Bar.
- Provide friendly and courteous customer service to patrons of all ages
- Operate a point-of-sale system and accurately handle cash and credit card transactions
- Prepare and serve food and beverages in accordance with established procedures
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of concession areas, including counters, equipment, and seating areas
- Restock food, beverage, and supply items as needed
- Follow proper food safety and sanitation guidelines
- Assist with opening and closing duties, including cleaning and basic inventory tasks
- Work cooperatively with staff to support recreation programs, events, and facility activities
Minimum Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Must be at least 16 years of age
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Ability to handle cash transactions responsibly and accurately
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Dependable and punctual with a positive attitude
- Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team
- Previous food service experience is helpful but not required
- Ability to work variable hours
- Perform other related duties, as assigned
Working Conditions
- Work is performed indoors and outdoors depending on assignment location
- May require standing for extended periods of time
- May involve light lifting of supplies up to 35 pounds
- Schedule will vary based on seasonal programming, special events, and facility needs
