Role OverviewWe are looking for an experienced Design Engineer with strong expertise in SolidWorks to lead the design and development of retail fixtures. The role involves handling end-to-end design execution—from concept to production-ready drawings—while ensuring feasibility, cost efficiency, and quality.
Key ResponsibilitiesDesign Leadership & Development
- Develop innovative and practical retail fixture designs based on client requirements
- Create detailed 3D models and assemblies using SolidWorks
- Generate 2D manufacturing drawings from 3D models
- Lead design projects from concept to final execution
Technical Detailing & Documentation
- Prepare production-ready drawings with complete detailing
- Develop Bill of Materials (BOM) directly from SolidWorks assemblies
- Maintain proper design documentation and version control
Design Optimization
- Optimize designs for manufacturability, cost, and material efficiency
- Apply value engineering to improve product performance and reduce cost
- Standardize components and modular designs
Cross-Functional Coordination
- Work closely with production and fabrication teams to ensure design feasibility
- Support prototype development and resolve shop floor issues
- Coordinate with clients/internal teams for design approvals and revisions
Required Qualifications & Skills- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering / Industrial Design or related field
- 5–10+ years of experience in retail fixtures, furniture, or fabrication industry
- Strong hands-on expertise in SolidWorks (mandatory)
- Proficiency in creating complex assemblies, sheet metal designs, and detailed drawings
- Good understanding of materials like metal, wood, acrylic, and glass
- Knowledge of fabrication processes (laser cutting, bending, welding, finishing)
- Ability to interpret and create precise technical drawings
Preferred Qualifications- Experience in retail display or shopfitting projects
- Knowledge of rendering tools or SolidWorks Visualize
- Exposure to CNC machines and modern manufacturing techniques
- Experience in costing and value engineering
