THE ROLE
We’re hiring a senior Fundraising Consultant to own new donor acquisition at RDF.
Your mandate is clear: identify, cultivate, and close new funding partnerships with corporates, CSR foundations and family foundations in India.
This is frontline business development in the social sector, where your ability to build relationships, navigate corporate decision-making, and close partnerships matters most.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Build the donor pipeline
- Lead pitches and close partnerships
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
After 12 months:
- 6–8 new CSR/foundation partnerships closed
- A qualified pipeline of 40–50 prospects with clear next steps
- 10–15 meaningful donor meetings per quarter
- Entry into 2–3 new donor sectors not previously tapped
- Positive feedback from new donors on partnership experience
After 24 months:
- Significant growth in new donor funding
- Repeatable donor acquisition systems in place
- 1–2 team members reporting to you
- Trusted thought partner to leadership on fundraising strategy
WHO YOU ARE
You bring 5–7 years of experience in:
- Fundraising or partnerships in NGOs, foundations, or social enterprises OR
- Business development / sales in consulting, professional services, or B2B environments
You’re numbers-driven:
- Comfortable managing pipelines, conversion rates, and deal sizes
- Strong with Excel and CRMs
- Able to forecast quarterly targets — and hit them
You’re a relationship builder:
- Confident initiating conversations with senior stakeholders
- Persistent, resilient, and comfortable with rejection
- Skilled at listening, adapting, and building trust
You can write and pitch:
- Strong proposal writing skills (narratives, budgets, MEL frameworks)
- Ability to translate complex programs into compelling funding cases
- Clear, adaptable communication for diverse audiences
You understand Indian CSR:
- Familiar with Section 135 and corporate decision-making processes
You’re entrepreneurial:
- Self-directed, outcome-oriented, and comfortable with ambiguity
- Take ownership beyond assigned tasks
WHAT WE’RE FLEXIBLE ON
- Degree (MBA not required)
- Sector background (corporate professionals welcome)
- Strength in specific donor segments
- Existing network (building one is equally valued)
WHAT WE’RE NOT FLEXIBLE ON
- Proven track record of closing new funding or partnerships
- Strong, independent proposal-writing skills
High work ethic and comfort with travel and a fast-paced environment.
