Deputy Manager - Fund Accounting | Real Estate PE
Bengaluru | Mumbai · Hybrid · US Shift
Spent six to eight years in private equity fund accounting and ready to move past the preparer stage? Our client is hiring Deputy Managers to own the work product of pod-level teams within their Real Estate PE fund services practice — a review and quality assurance seat, not a first-cut prep role.
About Our Client
Our client is a US-headquartered global accounting, tax, and business advisory firm with close to 4,000 professionals worldwide and a strong India presence across Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad. Their Real Estate Private Equity fund services practice has been operating for over two decades and currently ranks among the largest real estate private fund administrators globally. The India team supports medium to large real estate funds across every asset class, delivering the full lifecycle of fund administration services to a global client base.
The Role
You will be the primary escalation point for client CRMs, the gatekeeper for deliverable quality, and a mentor for the analysts and senior associates on your team. The work split is roughly 75% operations, 10% client management, 5% people management.
Key Responsibilities
Operations (75%)
You will be accountable for the work product of your team and act as the primary reviewer and quality gate for all client deliverables. Day-to-day work includes calculation, booking, and review of deal-wise fees such as management fees, incentive fees, and carried interest. You will prepare and review fund financial statements and investor reports including capital calls, distribution schedules, and LP notices, and ensure every deliverable goes out on time and meets the firm's quality standard.
Client and CRM Management (10%)
You will engage directly with assigned clients and CRMs to build rapport and proactively manage expectations through structured calls and review meetings. The expectation is continuous improvement in service quality, transparent communication on issues and timelines, and a track record that earns client references and recommendations.
People Management (5%)
You will manage and mentor a team of fund accounting professionals, set SMART goals, conduct performance reviews, and build engagement through team development programmes. Career conversations, retention, and aligning team members' aspirations with organisational goals will sit with you.
What the Strongest Applications Will Demonstrate
- 6 to 8 years of fund accounting experience with hands-on work in private equity funds
- Strong expertise in NAV calculation, waterfall modelling, and financial reporting
- Experience computing management fees, carried interest, capital calls, and distributions
- Review-level ownership in a prior role
- CA, CFA, MBA Finance, or equivalent professional qualification
- Advanced MS Excel proficiency
- In-depth domain knowledge of financial markets
Strong Pluses
- Hands-on experience with Yardi (Voyager or Investment Management modules)
- Direct exposure to real estate private equity funds
- Prior experience with US-domiciled funds
- Background with a fund administrator, asset manager captive, or Big 4 fund services arm
One firm exclusion: Candidates with only hedge fund accounting backgrounds are not the right fit for this role. PE fund accounting experience is essential.
Logistics
- Shift: 12:30 PM to 9:30 PM IST
- Office Attendance: 13 working days per month from the Bengaluru or Mumbai office
- Commute: Candidates should reside within a one-hour commute radius of the office
- Notice Period: Immediate joiners and candidates currently serving notice will be prioritised
