Job Role: Functional Safety Engineer
Work Experience: 7 to 12 Years
Location: Pune
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and drive Software Functional Safety activities across the full development lifecycle in accordance with ISO 26262:2018.
- Define Software Functional Safety concepts, safety goals, safety mechanisms, and safety requirements aligned with system-level safety strategy.
- Perform safety analysis activities including FMEA, DFA, FTA, and FFI, and execute ASIL decomposition where required.
- Design and review safety-oriented software architecture for automotive embedded systems and ECUs.
- Ensure complete and bidirectional traceability between safety requirements, design, implementation, verification, and validation artifacts.
- Review MCU safety manuals and safety architecture documentation from vendors such as Infineon, NXP, and Renesas.
- Guide implementation of safety mechanisms including lockstep CPUs, watchdog timers, ECC, CRC, BIST/MBIST, voltage monitoring, clock monitoring, and safe state handling.
- Collaborate closely with System, Hardware, Software, and Validation teams to ensure safety compliance and technical alignment.
- Prepare and maintain ISO 26262 compliant safety work products and documentation.
- Present Functional Safety strategy, concepts, and compliance evidence to customers, auditors, and stakeholders.
Required Skills & Expertise:
- Strong hands-on experience in ISO 26262 compliant system and software development.
- Minimum 7 years of overall software development experience with at least 5+ years in Functional Safety projects.
- Strong background in Embedded C/C++ development, debugging, and optimization.
- Deep understanding of safety analysis methods such as FMEA, DFA, FTA, and FFI.
- Experience in ASIL decomposition and safety requirement allocation.
- Strong knowledge of Safety Engineering principles and software architecture design.
- Experience in Requirements Engineering and traceability management using tools like DOORS.
- Working knowledge of AUTOSAR-based systems and safety integration.
- Experience with MISRA C/C++ and static code analysis tools.
