Role Summary
The Functional Mifos Specialist / Business Analyst acts as the vital link between Banknbox’s business objectives and the technical execution of our core banking platform. You will be responsible for translating complex banking requirements into functional system configurations within the Mifos X / Apache Fineract ecosystem, ensuring financial accuracy, operational efficiency, and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead requirement gathering workshops with internal stakeholders and clients to define business needs.
• Create detailed Functional Requirement Specifications (FRS) and Business Requirement Documents (BRD).
• Map "As-Is" and "To-Be" business processes to ensure seamless system transitions.
• Hands-on configuration of financial products, including Loans (flat, declining, interest-free), Savings, Deposits, and Shares.
• Manage and maintain the Chart of Accounts (COA), ensuring correct GL mapping for all financial events.
• Configure global settings, office hierarchies, and user permissions (Maker-Checker roles).
• Ensure the system adheres to local banking regulations and international financial standards (e.g., PCI-DSS).
• Oversee double-entry bookkeeping logic within the platform to ensure ledger integrity.
• Design and validate financial reports (Balance Sheets, Trial Balances, Portfolio-at-Risk) using Pentaho or internal reporting tools.
• Develop functional test cases and lead User Acceptance Testing (UAT) phases.
• Validate that new features or custom developments align with the initial business requirements.
• Troubleshoot functional issues and provide root-cause analysis for discrepancies in financial calculations.
Technical & Professional Requirements
• Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience specifically with Mifos X or Apache Fineract.
• Strong background in Fintech, Microfinance, or Retail Banking operations.
• Solid understanding of financial accounting principles and banking workflows.
• Proficiency in Jira, Confluence, and basic SQL (for data extraction and verification).
• Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Finance, Accounting, or Information Technology.
• Ability to explain technical constraints to business users and business needs to developers.
• A methodical approach to resolving complex functional gaps.
• High precision in configuring financial formulas and interest rates.
