An ERP Functional Consultant acts as the bridge between business requirements and technical execution. Your role is to understand how a business operates and then configure the ERP system (such as SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, or NetSuite) to optimize those processes.
-Role Overview
- Position: ERP Functional Consultant / Manager
- Department: Information Technology / Business Operations
- Reports to: ERP Project Manager / Director
-Key Responsibilities
- Requirement Gathering: Facilitate workshops with stakeholders to document business processes and identify "pain points" in the current workflow.
- Gap Analysis: Evaluate the difference between standard ERP functionality and the specific needs of the business; propose workarounds or custom developments where necessary.
- System Configuration: Set up and tune the ERP modules (e.g., Finance, SCM, HR, or CRM) to align with documented business requirements.
- Testing & QA: Develop test scripts and lead User Acceptance Testing (UAT) to ensure the system is bug-free and meets user expectations.
- Training & Support: Create user manuals and conduct training sessions for end-users. Provide post-go-live support and troubleshoot functional issues.
- Data Migration: Assist in mapping data from legacy systems to the new ERP environment to ensure data integrity.
-Required Skills & Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, IT, or a related field.
- Experience: 3+ years of experience in ERP implementation or as a key user in a specific module (e.g., FICO, MM, SD).
- Technical Savvy: Strong understanding of relational databases and how different business modules integrate within an ERP ecosystem.
- Analytical Thinking: Ability to translate complex business needs into clear technical specifications.
- Communication: Excellent interpersonal skills to manage stakeholder expectations and lead training sessions.
