Pathway Communications is an innovative healthcare technology company dedicated to transforming chronic disease management through cutting-edge digital solutions. Our mission is to empower clinicians and patients with reliable, secure, and user-friendly platforms that facilitate proactive health monitoring and intervention. We specialize in developing FDA-cleared Software as a Medical Device (SaMD) products, ensuring compliance with stringent regulatory standards. Our team is committed to delivering high-quality, scalable solutions that integrate seamlessly into clinical workflows and improve patient outcomes. As we prepare for an imminent hospital pilot, we are seeking talented developers to join our dynamic team and contribute to this impactful project.
About The Role
We are looking for a highly skilled software developer to focus on enhancing and maintaining our remote patient monitoring platform. This role involves working primarily on the web dashboard and backend services that support real-time clinical data processing, alert management, and user interface functionalities. The ideal candidate will have experience with complex business logic, rapid onboarding into existing codebases, and a strong mastery of AI development tools to accelerate development cycles. You will be responsible for auditing the current codebase, identifying quality gaps, fixing bugs, and implementing remaining features within a tight timeline. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on a regulated healthcare product that directly impacts patient care and clinical decision-making.
Qualifications
To succeed in this role, candidates must demonstrate expertise in both backend and frontend development, with a focus on healthcare applications. Key qualifications include:
- Strong experience with Spring Boot and Java, particularly with complex business logic and data processing.
- Proficiency in Angular, including component architecture, state management, and responsive design.
- Proven ability to rapidly onboard into existing codebases and deliver high-quality, reliable features under tight deadlines.
- Active use of AI development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude, or similar, with demonstrable mastery beyond basic usage.
- Experience with healthcare data standards, alert systems, and clinical workflows is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills and proactive collaboration, especially with distributed teams across different time zones.
- Availability to overlap with US Eastern timezone for meetings and syncs.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for the following tasks:
- Auditing and improving the existing backend services built with Spring Boot/Java, ensuring robustness, security, and compliance with healthcare standards.
- Developing and maintaining RESTful APIs that serve the Angular frontend, including patient vitals, alert statuses, case data, and campaign metadata.
- Enhancing the case management workflow backend to support multi-stage lifecycle tracking for clinical concerns.
- Implementing and optimizing the alert engine to evaluate multiple clinical parameters simultaneously, auto-escalate based on severity, and support clinician de-escalation actions with comprehensive audit logging.
- Contributing to the frontend development by implementing UI components for CGM glucose dashboards, patient detail pages, case worklists, and alert configuration interfaces.
- Ensuring the UI is fully responsive and aligns with provided mockups and component specifications.
- Identifying logic errors, edge cases, and incomplete implementations through thorough testing and debugging.
- Utilizing AI development tools to accelerate bug fixes, optimize code quality, and enhance testing processes, including front-end testing with Playwright and back-end validation.
- Maintaining clear documentation of code changes, testing procedures, and technical decisions.
Benefits
Joining Pathway Communications offers the opportunity to work on impactful healthcare technology in a fast-paced startup environment. Benefits include:
- Competitive compensation aligned with project scope and experience.
- Flexible remote work arrangements, with opportunities for collaboration across global teams.
- Engagement in a meaningful project that directly contributes to improving patient care and clinical workflows.
- Exposure to regulated healthcare software development, including FDA compliance and quality assurance standards.
