Overview of the Role
Seeking a full-stack WordPress/PHP Engineer to join the development team to work on the existing B2B tire ecommerce platform as well as a new website platform for retail tire shops. Work includes building new functionality such as a tire ecommerce plugin that uses existing API connections to the point-of-sale, incorporating existing Vue.js web components onto the site, and creating theme-based functionality that lets different clients customize the look and feel of the website. The ideal candidate is well-rounded across frontend and backend development and can create new MySQL tables to support new web features.
This team member will work closely with the Product Manager, other engineers, and QA to develop and support new products.
Working Hours
Working hours are IST, as the majority of the team is India-based, but you must be available from 8:00 to 10:00 AM ET for collaboration with US team members.
Hiring Arrangement
Independent contractor engagement, full-time availability.
Benefits and Time Off
Benefit consideration will be part of total compensation for contracted technical team members. There are currently 22 total paid holiday/PTO/sick days.
Responsibilities
- The product-catalog e-commerce plugin — the platform’s crown jewel. A custom plugin surfacing live product lookup, availability, pricing, and images from the POS integration APIs. A working B2B version exists; you’ll port, modernize, and productize it for retail.
- The theme framework — theme-based architecture letting each shop customize branding and layout without forking code: one codebase, many storefronts.
- Both platforms — new features and hardening across the B2B wholesale portal and the new retail platform.
- Performance & security — WordPress is a target. Hosting is on WP Engine with geofenced traffic, and security is treated as an engineering discipline: hardened plugins, sane attack surface, fast pages.
- Data — new MySQL tables and schema design for new web features, plus clean API-consumption patterns against the POS.
Requirements
- 5+ years coding experience in PHP / WordPress
- Solid JavaScript understanding
- Ability to work with MySQL
- Ability to communicate well by video and email in English
- Strong understanding of Git DevOps workflows
- Experience working on APIs / integrations
