Full-Stack Engineer
Company Overview
CB is developing a data-driven healthcare platform that harnesses comprehensive biobanks to develop proprietary diagnostics and advanced AI to transform the management and treatment of chronic conditions globally. We integrate multimodal data—clinical records, biowearables, patient-reported outcomes, and multi-omic analysis—to generate insights that unlock new diagnostics, biomarkers, and therapeutic targets for complex neuroimmune conditions.
Role Summary
As a Full-Stack Engineer on our Multimodal Research Platform, you’ll build the participant-facing mobile app and backend services that power CB’s clinical research. You’ll work end-to-end—shipping React Native features participants use daily, FastAPI services that ingest and unify wearable, clinical, and patient-reported data, and AI-powered experiences built on the Anthropic Claude API. Expect to work closely with our research and ML teams to have a direct hand in how we accelerate diagnostics and treatments for complex neuroimmune conditions.
Key Responsibilities
You Will
- Build cross-platform mobile features in React Native + Expo (iOS and Android from one codebase)
- Build and maintain FastAPI backend endpoints with PostgreSQL and DynamoDB
- Integrate third-party health APIs (Terra for wearables, Metriport for EHR, Daily.co for telehealth)
- Implement real-time features (WebSocket chat, push notifications, wearable data sync)
- Build participant-facing AI features using the Anthropic Claude API
- Write tests for everything you build. Maintain 80%+ backend coverage.
- Work within HIPAA compliance requirements — handle PHI correctly, never cut corners on security
Required
- 3+ years of software engineering experience
- Strong TypeScript and React Native (or React with fast ramp to RN)
- Strong Python (FastAPI or Django)
- Experience with PostgreSQL and at least one NoSQL database
- Shipped at least one mobile app to App Store or Google Play
- Experience with REST APIs, WebSockets, and third-party API integration
- Comfortable working autonomously in a small, fast-moving team
Preferred
- Expo and EAS Build experience
- AWS (Fargate, Lambda, S3, Cognito, DynamoDB)
- Experience with healthcare/HIPAA-compliant applications
- Experience with HealthKit or Android Health Connect
- Experience working with LLM APIs (Claude, GPT)
- Familiarity with FHIR R4 or health data standards
What Success Looks Like
- Features ship to real participants on a weekly cadence
- Code passes lint, type-check, and tests before every merge
- You own modules end-to-end: spec → build → test → deploy → monitor
- Minimal back-and-forth — you read the spec, build it right, ask questions when genuinely blocked
