Role Description The Full Stack Engineer will work in a full-time, remote capacity, building and maintaining end-to-end web applications that support Quant-vol’s quantitative research and portfolio management workflows. Day-to-day responsibilities include designing and implementing back-end services and APIs, developing responsive and accessible user interfaces, and integrating front-end and back-end components into cohesive, reliable systems. The engineer will collaborate closely with quantitative researchers and other engineers to translate business and research needs into technical solutions, optimize performance and scalability, and ensure high code quality through testing and code reviews. The role also involves contributing to architectural decisions, maintaining documentation, and supporting continuous improvement of the engineering infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Frontend Development: Design and implement interactive, mobile-responsive user interfaces using modern JavaScript/TypeScript frameworks (e.g., React, Next.js, or Vue.js).
- Backend Engineering: Build and maintain scalable backend logic, server architectures, and RESTful/GraphQL APIs.
- Database Management: Design schema structures, write efficient queries, and manage relational (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL (e.g., MongoDB, Redis) databases.
- Code Quality & Testing: Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code. Conduct peer code reviews and implement automated unit and integration tests.
- Performance & Security: Optimize applications for maximum speed, security, and cross-browser scalability. Implement core web security best practices (CORS, JWT/OAuth, input validation).
- DevOps & Collaboration: Utilize Git workflows, support automated CI/CD deployments, and troubleshoot production issues alongside the engineering team.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Work Experience: Minimum 2 years of professional full stack web development experience.
- Frontend Tech: Strong proficiency in HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript (ES6+), and at least one core framework (e.g., React.js, Next.js, Angular, or Vue.js).
- Backend Tech: Proven experience with server-side environments such as Node.js (Express/NestJS), Python (FastAPI/Django), Java (Spring Boot), or Go.
- Databases: Practical experience with SQL (PostgreSQL, MySQL) or NoSQL (MongoDB) databases and ORMs (e.g., Prisma, TypeORM, Mongoose).
- API Architecture: Experience building, consuming, and documenting RESTful APIs.
- Version Control: Proficient with Git and collaborative GitHub/GitLab workflows (PRs, branching strategies).
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical industry experience.
