About the Business
BNP Paribas Fortis (Tribe Daily Banking) is one of Europe’s largest payment‑processing banks. The tribe builds and maintains core IT solutions for the BNP Paribas Group using agile, multicultural squads based in Belgium and Chennai.
Position Overview
You will be part of an international, cross‑functional squad that designs, develops, tests and maintains a key transversal HR application. The squad works in an agile environment with daily stand‑ups, frequent production releases and a strong focus on code quality and system uptime.
Role & Responsibilities
Core responsibilities
- Implement change requests, perform maintenance and drive future enhancements.
- Translate business requirements into development plans and clear acceptance criteria.
- Design, code, test and maintain new and existing features with an emphasis on performance, re‑usability and reliability.
- Identify and resolve bottlenecks or defects; ensure high‑quality, readable and well‑structured code.
- Automate repetitive tasks where appropriate.
- Keep technical documentation up to date to guarantee service continuity.
- Apply agile best practices daily and promote continuous improvement.
Squad contributions
- Break down features into workable tasks and refine backlog items.
- Share expertise and improvement ideas with the squad.
- Align work with squad‑defined priorities and deliverables.
Required Skills & Experience
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, IT or a related field.
- At least 10 years of professional software development, primarily with Java.
- Java 8/17, Spring / Spring Boot, RESTful APIs (JSON & XML)
- Front‑end development with React JS (ability to work on UI components).
- JPA, Maven, Docker, Kubernetes, GitLab, Jenkins, SonarQube, Fortify, NexusIQ
- IntelliJ IDEA, JUnit, Cucumber, Oracle / PLSQL, Swagger, Secure coding practices
- Strong grasp of the application lifecycle, automated testing and CI/CD pipelines.
- Proven experience working in Agile/Scrum environments (daily huddles, sprint planning, retrospectives).
- Experience with SiteFactory / Spring MVC (model‑view‑controller patterns).
- Familiarity with performance‑monitoring and optimisation tools.
