About This Role
We are looking for developers who genuinely enjoy programming.
Not people who entered development because AI made writing code easier.
You should understand code well enough to write it, read it, debug it, challenge it and improve it yourself.
Modern AI coding tools can make a good developer significantly faster.
We encourage intelligent use of them.
But they should extend your ability, not create the illusion of it.
If an AI coding assistant disappeared tomorrow, you should still know how to build.
Responsibilities:
What You'll Do
- Build modern web applications.
- Work across frontend and backend development.
- Develop APIs and application logic.
- Work with databases and authentication.
- Translate product requirements into functioning software.
- Debug systematically.
- Improve performance, maintainability and reliability.
- Review and improve code.
- Contribute to technical decisions.
- Integrate modern AI enabled functionality when appropriate.
Preferred Qualifications:
Your Craft
You should understand several of:
- JavaScript
- TypeScript
- React
- Next.js
- Node.js
- REST APIs
- SQL and databases
- HTML
- CSS
- Git
- Authentication
- Data structures and programming fundamentals
Python, Docker, cloud environments and AI integrations are useful additions.
But More Importantly
You should understand:
- Variables.
- Functions.
- Data flow.
- State.
- APIs.
- Asynchronous behaviour.
- Databases.
- Debugging.
- Architecture.
- Why your code behaves the way it does.
Framework knowledge changes.
Programming ability remains.
What We Notice
We notice developers who:
- Have built something outside an assignment.
- Read documentation.
- Enjoy debugging.
- Can explain code without hiding behind terminology.
- Know when their architecture is becoming unnecessarily complicated.
- Refactor because they understand why it matters.
- Have discovered their own mistakes and corrected them.
- Ask questions about the problem rather than immediately writing code.
AI & Your Craft
You may use AI coding assistants.
In fact, we expect strong developers to learn how to use modern tools intelligently.
But you remain responsible for every line of code you ship.
If AI generates something:
You should be able to read it.
Explain it.
Debug it.
Modify it.
Reject it when it is wrong.
We are not looking for prompt to code developers.
We are looking for engineers.
You Might Not Enjoy This Role If
- You cannot comfortably write code without AI.
- You copy code until something runs.
- You avoid debugging.
- You know frameworks but lack programming fundamentals.
- You need every feature broken into exact implementation instructions.
- You view anything outside your preferred stack as somebody else's problem.
