About the Department
The Assistant Coach reports to the Head Coach and assists in the day-to-day operations of the program, ensuring that it functions at a high-level and remains in compliance with all NCAA, Conference, and University rules and policies. The Assistant Coach may also serve as the Recruiting Coordinator and may directly oversee student managers.
Position Duties
- Assist in all areas of practice planning, scouting, practice activities and individual coaching
- Assist in recruitment of student-athletes, under the direction of head coach
- Player Wellness: Facilitate a positive team culture that manifests itself on and off the field of play, putting the student-athlete’s well-being first.
- Hire and oversee team managers
- Input all compliance information into ACS
- Direct and supervise student managers and on occasion other assistant coaches
- Assist in planning all travel-arrangements
- Promote academic success through discipline and accountability
- Arrange tutors and communicate with faculty regarding missed classes
- Send required information to Admissions regarding all recruited prospects
- Organize all schedules: practice, game, classes, player development, and weights
- Facility liaison: reserve field times, and meeting rooms
- Communicate with training staff regarding the team’s schedule
- Facilitate equipment ordering through the direction of head coach
- Conduct individual and/or small-group film sessions with players
- Assist in coordinating alumni functions
- Assist and organize fundraising efforts
- Conduct bi-weekly academic meetings with players
- Conduct weekly class attendance check
- May serve as Recruiting Coordinator at the direction of head coach
- Fulfill all assignments to the program as assigned by the head coach
- Evening and weekend hours and overnight travel are required.

Minimum Qualifications
- Familiar with NCAA rules and regulations
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Outstanding organizational skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Valid driver's license
Preferred: - Degree educated
- Previous coaching experience
Environmental Conditions:
- Frequently work at a fast pace with unscheduled interruptions.
- Public contact position requiring professional apparel, personal hygiene, and grooming.
- Indoor and outdoor work environments.

- Based on the main campus of Fresno Pacific University.
- Some computer use may be required.
Physical Demands:
- Candidates must be physically and mentally able to perform the essential duties of the position without hazard to themselves or others.
- Moderate-to-heavy lifting (up to 50 pounds), sitting, standing, walking, climbing, bending, kneeling, reaching.
- Must possess dexterity of hands and fingers to operate tools and equipment, near and far visual acuity and depth perception.
- Employee must be able to communicate with others to exchange information including both over the telephone and in-person communication with community members as well as athletes.
- Be able to read a computer screen and paper documents.

Other Qualifications
Approx. $17,576–$20,800 annually is the anticipated hourly wage for this role and reflects what Fresno Pacific University reasonably expects to pay for this position. Actual compensation may vary based on the qualifications, experience, and internal equity. In addition to compensation, FPU offers a competitive benefits package.
