Position Summary
Dalhousie Public School is seeking a passionate and dedicated French Teacher to deliver engaging language instruction while fostering an appreciation for French language and culture. The teacher will contribute to students' academic growth and actively participate in the academic, co-curricular, and pastoral life of the school.
Key Responsibilities
Academic Responsibilities
· Plan and deliver engaging French lessons in line with the school curriculum.
· Develop students' listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills.
· Assess student progress and provide timely feedback.
· Maintain lesson plans, attendance, assessment records, and academic reports.
· Prepare students for examinations, language certifications, and competitions.
· Integrate technology and innovative teaching practices into classroom learning.
Student Development
· Foster a positive, inclusive, and disciplined learning environment.
· Mentor students and support their academic and personal development.
· Communicate regularly with parents regarding student progress.
Boarding & Co-Curricular Responsibilities
· Participate in boarding duties, evening prep, and school activities as assigned.
· Organise and support French language clubs, cultural events, competitions, and educational trips.
· Contribute actively to school functions, assemblies, and other co-curricular programmes.
Administrative Responsibilities
· Attend staff meetings, training programmes, and Parent-Teacher Meetings.
· Collaborate with colleagues and support school initiatives.
· Adhere to school policies, safeguarding standards, and professional ethics.
Qualifications
· Bachelor's Degree in French or a relevant discipline.
· B.Ed. or equivalent teaching qualification.
· 5-7 years of teaching experience preferred.
· DELF/DALF certification and boarding school experience will be an added advantage.
Skills & Competencies
· Strong command of spoken and written French.
· Excellent communication and classroom management skills.
· Effective planning, organisational, and interpersonal abilities.
· Proficiency in using educational technology.
· Passion for teaching and student development.
Working Conditions
· Full-time position.
· Participation in academic, boarding, and co-curricular responsibilities as assigned.
· Availability for occasional evening and weekend duties.
