Role Description: The Freight Business Development Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in Mohali, India. This role is responsible for identifying and developing new freight business opportunities, building and maintaining relationships with clients, and expanding the company’s presence in key markets. The manager will conduct market research, qualify leads, prepare proposals, negotiate rates and contracts, and coordinate closely with operations teams to ensure service quality and customer satisfaction. Daily activities include managing a sales pipeline, delivering client presentations, tracking performance against targets, and providing regular business reports and forecasts to leadership. The role also involves collaborating with internal stakeholders to refine logistics solutions, support customer onboarding, and contribute to strategic growth initiatives.
Job Description – Business Development Manager (Logistics)
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify, qualify, and acquire new customers across logistics and transportation sectors.
- Develop and execute business development strategies to achieve revenue and growth targets.
- Generate leads through cold calling, email outreach, networking, referrals, and industry events.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with shippers, manufacturers, distributors, freight brokers, and enterprise clients.
- Understand customer transportation requirements and recommend suitable logistics solutions.
- Prepare quotations, proposals, pricing, and commercial agreements.
- Negotiate contracts and successfully close new business opportunities.
- Coordinate with Operations, Dispatch, and Customer Success teams to ensure excellent service delivery.
- Maintain accurate sales pipeline and customer records in the CRM.
- Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and customer needs to identify growth opportunities.
- Deliver regular sales reports, forecasts, and business performance updates.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Supply Chain, Logistics, or a related field.
- 3–8+ years of experience in logistics, transportation, freight brokerage, 3PL, or supply chain sales.
- Strong understanding of FTL, LTL, dispatch, freight brokerage, warehousing, and transportation services.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, presentation, and closing skills.
- Experience using CRM software.
- Ability to work independently and achieve ambitious sales targets.
