ABOUT THE PROJECT
Archivium Audio Stories is a premium, independent, self-funded audio drama series. Our mission is to produce gripping, modern language adaptations of timeless public domain novels and short stories from around the world. • Die Spinne / The Spider (Hanns Heinz Ewers' hypnotic horror)
ROLE OVERVIEW
We are seeking a talented, creative Freelance Sound Designer & Audio Editor based in the Kolkata Metropolitan Area. The ideal candidate must have a deep, inherent understanding of the Sunday Suspense audio drama format—specifically its cinematic pacing, heavy atmospheric world-building, and dynamic use of background scores and Foley to drive psychological tension.
As this is a self-funded independent venture, this role is perfect for final-year film/media students, recent graduates (e.g., SRFTI, St. Xavier's, JU), or independent freelance audio engineers looking to work on world-class literary material and build a powerhouse portfolio.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Atmospheric Soundscapes: Build deep, immersive ambient backgrounds (from the stormy nights of ancient Rome to claustrophobic train tunnels).
- Foley & Sound Effects: Source, edit, and layer visceral sound effects to match the script's action and psychological dread.
- Music & Leitmotif Integration: Select, edit, or compose repeating musical themes that heighten emotional and dramatic stakes.
- Dialogue Editing & Mixing: Clean up recorded voice tracks, balance levels, and execute the final master mix.
REQUIREMENTS
- Natively familiar with the narrative structure and sonic signature of Sunday Suspense or similar cinematic audio dramas.
- Access to your own Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) setup (Pro Tools, Logic Pro, Reaper, Premiere, etc.).
- Ability to take total creative ownership of a script and translate it into a world-class auditory experience.
- Strong communication skills to collaborate directly with the creator (no deep technical jargon required!)
Project Type: Freelance / Contract (Per-Episode Basis)
Budget: Competitive stipend per completed episode (to be discussed based on experience/portfolio).
