We are looking for a detail-oriented QA Engineer responsible for ensuring the quality, reliability, and performance of web and mobile applications. The ideal candidate should have strong software testing fundamentals, clear business understanding, and hands-on experience in web, mobile, and API testing.

The QA Engineer will work closely with developers, project managers, and clients to ensure that delivered solutions meet functional, business, and performance expectations.

This is a remote freelance opportunity with flexible hours based on project requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Requirement & Business Understanding
• Analyze business requirements, BRDs, SOWs, and user stories.
• Identify gaps, ambiguities, and edge cases in requirements.
• Translate business requirements into clear test scenarios and test cases.
• Participate in requirement discussions and sprint planning meetings.
• Ensure the final product aligns with client expectations and acceptance criteria.
• Software Testing Execution
• Prepare detailed test plans, test cases, and test scripts.
• Perform functional, regression, smoke, and sanity testing.
• Conduct cross-browser and cross-device testing.
• Perform usability and exploratory testing.
• Maintain proper test documentation and defect reports.
• Web Application Testing
• Test CMS-based websites such as WordPress, Shopify, Webflow, and custom Laravel or PHP applications.
• Validate forms, payment gateways, integrations, and admin workflows.
• Ensure SEO-related elements such as meta tags, schema, and indexing settings function correctly.
• Validate performance basics and responsive behavior.
• Mobile Application Testing
• Test mobile applications on Android and iOS platforms.
• Perform functional, UI, and usability testing.
• Validate push notifications, login flows, permissions, and API responses.
• Test across different devices and OS versions.
• API Testing
• Test REST APIs using tools like Postman or similar platforms.
• Validate request and response payloads.
• Verify authentication mechanisms such as tokens and keys.
• Test error handling and edge cases.
• Coordinate with developers for debugging API-level issues.
• Defect Management & Reporting
• Log bugs clearly with steps to reproduce, expected vs actual results, and screenshots or recordings.
• Prioritize defects based on business impact.
• Follow up with developers for resolution.
• Retest fixed issues and ensure no regression.
• Process & Quality Improvement
• Suggest improvements in QA processes and delivery workflows.
• Contribute to SOP creation and documentation.
• Help build reusable QA checklists for web, mobile, and API projects.
• Participate in post-project retrospectives.
  
  

Required Skills

Technical Skills

• Strong understanding of Software Testing Life Cycle and SDLC.
• Experience in web application testing.
• Experience in mobile app testing.
• Hands-on API testing experience.
• Familiarity with bug tracking tools such as Jira, ClickUp, or similar.
• Basic knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JSON is preferred.
• Understanding of database validation is an added advantage.

Preferred Qualifications

• 2 to 5 years of experience in QA or software testing.
• Experience working with digital agencies or client-facing projects.
• Basic automation knowledge is a plus but not mandatory.
