Sandhya Technology Solutions and Operations LLP (TechSandhya) is looking for an experienced Freelance Power BI Developer and Data Visualization Specialist for a high-impact engagement.
This is not a conventional dashboard-development assignment.
We are looking for a senior specialist who can transform complex livelihood, socio-economic, programmatic, and operational data into clear, executive-ready narratives for leadership teams, corporate partners, funders, and donor organizations—while also leveraging AI to enhance insights, automation, and predictive capabilities.
The right professional will understand that an effective dashboard must do more than display metrics—it must explain performance, reveal trends, highlight risks, support decision-making, and incorporate intelligent analytics where relevant.
What You Will Be Responsible For
- Design intuitive, interactive, and executive-ready Power BI dashboards for social-impact and livelihood programs.
- Convert complex raw datasets into meaningful visual narratives, actionable insights, and decision-support tools.
- Develop scalable semantic models, relationships, hierarchies, calculated tables, and reusable reporting structures.
- Build advanced DAX measures for KPIs, cohort analysis, progress tracking, utilization, trends, variance analysis, and outcome measurement.
- Develop and optimize Power Query (M) transformations for data cleansing, standardization, validation, and consolidation.
- Integrate data from SQL databases, Excel files, REST APIs, cloud services, and other operational systems.
- Apply AI and machine learning techniques (where relevant) for predictive analytics, anomaly detection, trend forecasting, and intelligent insights.
- Work with technical, product, program, monitoring and evaluation, and leadership teams to refine reporting requirements and KPI definitions.
- Identify data-quality issues, inconsistencies, missing values, and reporting risks before they affect stakeholder decisions.
- Optimize dashboard performance, refresh cycles, model size, responsiveness, and usability.
- Implement appropriate role-based access, data governance, validation controls, and reporting documentation.
- Maintain consistency across visual design, terminology, calculations, filters, and stakeholder-facing outputs.
Essential Qualifications
- Proven freelance or consulting experience as a Power BI Developer, BI Consultant, Data Visualization Specialist, or AI-enabled Analytics Professional.
- Advanced expertise in Power BI, DAX, Power Query (M), and SQL.
- Working knowledge of AI/ML concepts, including predictive modeling, data-driven insights, or integration of AI tools into analytics workflows.
- Strong understanding of data modeling, dimensional schemas, ETL processes, API connectors, and reporting architecture.
- Demonstrated ability to handle large, complex, and multi-source datasets.
- Strong portfolio of executive dashboards, management reports, analytical products, or donor-facing visualizations.
- Proven capability to translate ambiguous business questions into measurable KPIs and effective visual narratives.
- Strong visual judgment, information hierarchy, dashboard UX, and data-storytelling skills.
- Ability to work independently, communicate clearly with senior stakeholders, and deliver against agreed timelines.
Preferred Experience
Experience with one or more of the following will be strongly preferred:
- Social-sector, CSR, non-profit, development-sector, or livelihood datasets.
- Monitoring, evaluation, learning, and impact-measurement dashboards.
- Funder, donor, portfolio, program-performance, or beneficiary-level reporting.
- Python or R for data preparation, AI/ML modeling, and advanced analytics.
- Experience with AI tools, libraries, or platforms (e.g., scikit-learn, TensorFlow, Azure AI, AWS AI services, or similar).
- AWS, Azure, cloud databases, data warehouses, or automated reporting pipelines.
- Data governance, privacy, access control, and enterprise reporting standards.
