BrewWorks Pvt Ltd. owns and operates 22 all-day cafes and dessert stores across Mumbai and Pune under the brand names Love & Cheesecake and Poetry. Built over 13 profitable years, BrewWorks is now entering its next stage of growth - scaling outlets, deepening brand presence, and building the creative infrastructure needed to sustain a distinctive identity at scale. With a growing aggregator presence, an active social community, and a menu that changes with the seasons, the business now requires a dedicated Freelance Illustrator who can bring warmth, wit, and visual coherence to everything we put into the world.
THE ROLE
The Freelance Illustrator is the visual voice of BrewWorks across three interconnected territories - brand and marketing, social media content, and UI/UX and digital product. Whether it is a seasonal campaign for a new cheesecake, a whimsical illustration for a packaging redesign, or custom icons for the ordering interface, this role ensures that every visual touchpoint feels unmistakably BrewWorks.
This is not a brief-execution role. The ideal candidate brings creative instinct to the table — suggesting visual directions, flagging brand inconsistencies, and helping the marketing and design teams see what the brand could look like, not just what was asked for. Great work here is noticed by 22 outlets worth of customers every day.
CORE OWNERSHIP AREAS
- Own illustration deliverables for campaigns, seasonal menus, packaging, and offline collateral across both brands. Maintain visual consistency with brand guidelines while bringing freshness to each brief.
- Produce a cadence of scroll-stopping illustrations for Instagram, Stories, Reels covers, and seasonal content calendars. Turn menu launches, events, and seasonal moments into shareable visual assets.
- Create custom icons, onboarding illustrations, empty-state graphics, and UI visual assets for the BrewWorks digital ordering interface. Ensure illustration style is optimised for screen and scales cleanly across device sizes.
- Contribute to and help evolve the BrewWorks illustration style guide. Flag visual inconsistencies across channels. Keep asset libraries organised and production-ready at all times.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
- 3–5 years of professional illustration with a strong portfolio spanning brand, social, and digital contexts. Agency, in-house, or freelance - what matters is the quality and range of the work.
- Has developed and maintained a distinctive illustration style for a consumer brand - not just executed briefs but helped shape how a brand looks and feels visually.
- Understands what performs on Instagram and why. Has produced illustration content that was designed to be shared, saved, or stopped at - not just aesthetically pleasing in isolation.
- Comfortable producing vector assets for screen - icon sets, UI illustrations, scalable graphics. Experience working within a design system or Figma component library is a strong plus.
- Reliable, deadline-respecting, and proactive. Can manage a recurring workload of varied briefs without being chased, and flags capacity issues before they become problems.
- Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop (essential). Figma (preferred). Procreate or equivalent for exploratory ideation (a plus). Working knowledge of export formats for both digital and print.
- Fine Arts, Communication Design, Graphic Design, or equivalent professional training. Portfolio is the primary credential - formal qualifications are secondary.
