Role Overview
We are looking for a detail-oriented Freelance FP&A Analyst to support financial planning, reporting, and business performance analysis. The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with commercial operations, finance, and cross-functional teams to provide financial insights, develop models, and support strategic decision-making.
This role requires strong financial modeling, data analysis, and reporting expertise, with experience working in retail or multi-unit business environments.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Planning & Analysis
- Support quarterly and annual budgeting and forecasting processes.
- Develop and maintain financial models to evaluate business performance.
- Analyze financial results, trends, and variances against forecasts and prior periods.
- Assist leadership with strategic financial insights and decision support.
Reporting & Data Analysis
- Prepare clear financial reports and performance dashboards for leadership teams.
- Monitor and analyze key retail metrics such as sales, margin, labor costs, and marketing spend.
- Work with large datasets to generate insights and improve reporting accuracy.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with commercial operations and finance teams to understand business drivers and reporting needs.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to improve financial visibility and reporting processes.
Accounting & Financial Controls
- Review and validate accrual activity and general ledger coding for accuracy.
- Support month-end financial close processes in collaboration with accounting teams.
Strategic Support
- Assist the FP&A team in data collection, financial analysis, and forecasting.
- Provide insights to help drive business growth and operational efficiency.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field
- 3–5+ years of FP&A or financial analysis experience
- Experience in multi-unit retail environments (consumer goods, specialty retail, QSR preferred)
- Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills
- Experience with BI tools such as Power BI or Tableau
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to interpret complex financial data and communicate insights clearly
- Strong organizational and communication skills
Preferred:
- MBA or CPA certification
- Experience in fast-paced retail operations
