Role Overview:
We are looking to engage with a Mechanical Design Consultant who can help our client to design and build Safe , smart, critical, and complex technical machines/automatic lines for plants ( India in particular ) at the right Quality , cost , delivery.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Participate in equipment study, costing, and definition phases, including feasibility studies and prototype identification.
- Perform mechanical design, simulations, and define technical specifications (tolerances, surface treatments, etc.).
- Generate BOMs and 2D drawings; support mechanical part procurement.
- Assist technicians and automation engineers in equipment setup and assembly.
- Support equipment commissioning, final qualification, and provide technical assistance to customers.
- Develop and update documentation for setup, preventive maintenance, and operations.
- Contribute to architecture and automation product selection decisions.
- Independently develop mechanical designs in collaboration with automation and electrical engineers.
- Design testing structures and support unit/integration testing activities.
- Provide mechanical support during machine setup, pre-qualification, and customer site restart.
- Train customers and deliver technical assistance post-installation.
- Manage and follow up with subcontractors and suppliers.
- Diagnose and analyze production equipment issues and support process improvements.
- Define, deploy, and train on mechanical design and safety standards.
- Support Industrial Mandatory Requirements (IMR) and critical process diagnostics.
- Drive innovation in machine design for quality, speed, and robustness.
Skills Required
Skills Required:
- Strong mechanical design expertise for customized equipment in discrete industries.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or Creo.
- Knowledge of pneumatic systems, mechanical manufacturing, and automatic assembly.
- Experience in MFMEA and manufacturability feasibility methods.
- Understanding of assembly technologies (screwing, riveting, laser, etc.).
- Knowledge of equipment safety and ergonomic standards.
- Basic understanding of electrical engineering components (switchgear, motors, etc.).
- Ability to create equipment and process solutions.
- Strong problem-solving and issue diagnosis capabilities.
- Good communication skills for technical discussions with customers.
- Proficiency in English (written and spoken).
