Our client, a global specialist in energy management, automation and digitalization is looking to engage with a Redshift database administrator
Roles & Responsibilities
- Administer and manage large-scale Amazon Redshift clusters (Provisioned & Serverless) including RA3 architecture, WLM configuration, concurrency scaling, and capacity planning.
- Drive performance optimization through sort/distribution key strategies, compression tuning (ZSTD/LZO), VACUUM/ANALYZE automation, and query troubleshooting using STL/SVL system tables.
- Ensure security, governance, and compliance by implementing IAM RBAC, MFA, encryption (at rest/in transit), VPC security controls, SSO integration, and audit readiness (SOC2).
- Own disaster recovery and resilience planning including automated snapshots, cross-region replication, RTO/RPO definition, DR drills, and high-availability alignment.
- Implement monitoring, logging, and observability frameworks using CloudWatch, S3, SIEM integrations, and proactive alerting standards.
- Optimize cost and resource utilization through RA3 migration, managed storage adoption, Reserved Instance planning, tagging governance, and FinOps monitoring.
- Collaborate with Data Engineering and cross-functional teams to govern ETL/ELT pipelines (Glue, S3, Lambda, Airflow) and ensure ingestion reliability and schema governance.
Skills Required
- Strong expertise in Amazon Redshift administration, including RA3 architecture, WLM configuration, concurrency scaling, Spectrum, and cluster lifecycle management (Provisioned & Serverless).
- Advanced performance tuning skills, including sort/distribution key design, compression strategies (ZSTD/LZO), VACUUM/ANALYZE automation, and query diagnostics using STL/SVL system tables.
- Proficiency in AWS ecosystem services such as S3, Glue, Lambda, IAM, VPC, KMS, CloudWatch, SNS, and SQS, with strong integration knowledge.
- Security and governance expertise, including IAM RBAC, MFA enforcement, encryption (at rest/in transit), VPC network controls, SSO integration, and compliance alignment (SOC2/CIS/NIST).
- Disaster recovery and high-availability planning experience, including automated snapshots, cross-region replication, RTO/RPO strategy, and DR testing.
- Monitoring, observability, and incident management capabilities, including CloudWatch dashboards, logging frameworks, SIEM integration, alerting standards, and L3/L4 escalation handling.
- Automation and scripting proficiency, particularly in SQL and Python, with working knowledge of ETL/ELT pipelines (Glue, Airflow) and infrastructure tools such as Terraform, Git, and Jenkins.
