Trident Consulting is seeking a FP&A Assistant Analyst for one of our clients in Pune.
Job Title: FP&A Assistant Analyst

Type: Full-time
Role Purpose
The FP&A Assistant Analyst will support the Financial Planning Analyst and Treasury & Governance Finance Analyst by providing financial analysis, reporting, and business partnering support. The role focuses on budgeting, forecasting, and delivering insights to support strategic and operational decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Support budgeting and forecasting activities to enable accurate financial planning and decision-making.
- Perform variance analysis (P&L, margins, direct materials, and balance sheet) to identify key drivers and business trends.
- Prepare and maintain financial models and reporting templates to improve accuracy and efficiency.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for management review.
- Support the development of quarterly financial forecast packs and presentations.
- Conduct detailed financial analysis to identify risks, opportunities, and areas for improvement.
- Perform balance sheet and bank reconciliations to ensure data accuracy and integrity.
- Support month-end close activities, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
- Assist with ad-hoc financial analysis, reporting, and projects as required by senior stakeholders.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Finance, Planning, and Logistics to support business objectives.
Qualifications & Skills
Essential:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (advanced functions preferred; financial modelling is a plus)
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Desirable:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field
- Pursuing professional accounting qualification (ACCA / CIMA / ACA)
- Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP) and financial tools (e.g., Power BI, TM1)
- Prior experience in FP&A, financial analysis, or reporting roles
Functional Knowledge & Experience
Essential:
- Understanding of financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes
- Experience in variance analysis and financial reporting
- Knowledge of balance sheet and bank reconciliations
Desirable:
- Experience in a manufacturing or fast-paced business environment
- Exposure to SAP or similar ERP systems
- Strong data analysis and financial modelling capabilities
- Ability to communicate financial insights to non-finance stakeholders
Performance & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with company policies, internal controls, and EHS procedures
- Report risks, incidents, and issues in line with company guidelines
- Maintain high standards of accuracy, accountability, and data integrity
