What You’ll Do

The SBA Lending Manager is responsible for developing and executing strategies to expand the credit union’s Government Guaranteed Loan (GGL) portfolio, including SBA 7(a) and 504 loan programs. This role oversees SBA lending production, manages SBA Business Development Officers, and builds relationships with small and medium-sized businesses, referral partners, and community organizations. The SBA Lending Manager ensures that all lending activities comply with SBA guidelines, regulatory requirements, and the credit union’s policies while supporting the financial success of members.

The estimated salary for this role is $150,000 plus commission

Core Contributions

  • Strategic Leadership
    • Develop and execute departmental strategies to drive production of Government Guaranteed Loans (GGL) and related financial products for small and medium-sized businesses.
    • Lead, manage, and mentor SBA Business Development Officers, providing strategic direction to achieve annual loan production goals.
    • Promote a collaborative, high-performance team culture aligned with the credit union’s mission, values, and member-first philosophy.
    • Provide coaching, training, and performance feedback to team members to support professional growth and production targets.
  • Business Development & Relationship Management
    • Generate new SBA 7(a) and 504 loans through direct member acquisition, relationship management, and referral networks.
    • Identify and cultivate strategic partnerships with industry associations, brokers, community organizations, and referral sources.
    • Represent the credit union at industry conferences, networking events, and SBA-related seminars.
    • Monitor economic trends across key industries and franchise sectors to support targeted lending initiatives.
  • Loan Origination & Structuring
    • Evaluate and prescreen loan opportunities to ensure proper SBA structure, eligibility, and regulatory compliance prior to credit submission.
    • Oversee negotiation of loan terms and conditions while ensuring alignment with credit union credit standards and SBA guidelines.
    • Prepare comprehensive loan memoranda for credit approval based on financial analysis and borrower information.
    • Guide members through the end-to-end SBA lending process, coordinating documentation, underwriting requirements, and closing activities.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration
    • Partner with Business Banking teams to cross-sell deposit products, treasury management, payment solutions, and other financial services.
    • Coordinate with credit, underwriting, and operations teams to resolve complex loan issues and expedite approvals.
    • Collaborate with marketing and communications teams to design targeted outreach campaigns for SBA loan programs.
  • Compliance & Risk Management
    • Ensure full compliance with federal, state, SBA, and internal regulatory policies governing Government Guaranteed Lending.
    • Maintain adherence to credit union lending policies and regulatory standards.
    • Monitor pipeline and production metrics to ensure quality and regulatory compliance.
  • Reporting & Performance Management
    • Implement and manage CRM and pipeline systems to track member interactions, loan progress, and team performance.
    • Prepare and present quarterly production reports and business reviews for senior leadership.
    • Track departmental performance against lending goals and strategic objectives.
  • Additional Responsibilities
    • Conduct ongoing training sessions to enhance product knowledge, sales effectiveness, and regulatory awareness.
    • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Assets You Will Bring  

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred in Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
  • 7+ years in commercial relationship building, small business lending, and with SBA loan products
  • 3+ years’ experience in supervising a team of SBA lenders
  • Demonstrated knowledge of SBA products and policies.
  • Computer Skills: Proficient in Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, Visio, Outlook, Teams).

      The estimated salary for this role is $150,000 plus commission.
