About Sama:
We built Sama (thesama.in) to solve one simple contradiction:
How can India become an AI powerhouse if crores still lack basic digital access?
So far, we’ve repurposed and distributed 15,000+ laptops across 21 states, with 70% going to women.
We’re now building Sama Social — a digital ecosystem for mentorship, jobs, and learning — because access without guidance, community, and opportunity is not enough.
Our mission over the next 3 years is two-fold and equally important:
→ Deliver 100,000 repurposed devices to those who need them most
→ Grow Sama Social into a 100,000-strong community of learners, mentors, and opportunities
And we’re looking for someone who wants to build this with us from the ground up.
About the role:
This is an early-stage, founding-team role — not a fixed-scope job.
It comes with high ownership, ambiguity, and long-term commitment, and the chance to shape the direction of Sama Social in its formative years.
Your work may look like:
- Bringing corporates into the mission (laptops, funding, volunteers), or
- Building a national, student-led movement across campuses, or
- Doing both, as the system takes shape
This role is ideal for you if:
- You’re excited by building things from zero to one
- You’re comfortable with uncertainty and learning on the go
- You want real ownership, not just execution
- You care deeply about access, equity, and long-term impact
This role may not be for you if:
- You’re looking for a clearly defined JD and stable routines
- You prefer short-term projects over long-term responsibility
- Ambiguity drains you rather than energises you
Compensation:
We value purpose and impact above financial growth, and we are deeply grateful to those who choose to walk this journey with us. Since we are a non-profit, our salaries are more modest than corporate opportunities and may involve a pay cut of around 40-50% from current compensation.
For this role, the compensation range is ₹4-6LPA. The final offer will depend on the skills, experience, and strengths you bring into the hiring process. If our mission resonates with you and you feel comfortable with this range, we would be honoured to explore working together.
