About the company:
Our client is building the data infrastructure for physical AI.
Large language models learned from internet-scale text. Robots need internet-scale experience
from the real world.
They build multimodal capture systems that collect synchronized stereo vision, tactile sensing,
hand tracking, full-body motion capture, IMUs, SLAM, and robot demonstrations from expert
operators. This data is used to train the next generation of robotics foundation models.
They are backed by leading Silicon Valley investors and work with some of the world's largest AI
and robotics labs.
The Role
We're looking for a Founding Robotics ML Systems Engineer to build the core software
infrastructure behind our multimodal data platform.
You'll build production systems for stereo capture, tactile sensing, hand tracking, SLAM, and
large-scale ML pipelines. You'll work across robotics perception, distributed systems, computer
vision, and machine learning while owning projects from design to deployment.
What You'll Build
Multimodal Capture Systems
● Build production pipelines for stereo RGB, tactile sensing, hand tracking, IMUs, SLAM,
full-body motion capture, and robot demonstrations.
● Design systems for synchronization, calibration, timestamp alignment, validation, and
large-scale data processing.
● Build internal tools for data collection, monitoring, and quality assurance.
Robotics Perception
● Build perception pipelines for stereo vision, depth estimation, 3D reconstruction, hand
tracking, pose estimation, sensor fusion, Visual-Inertial Odometry (VIO), and SLAM.
● Develop calibration and synchronization systems for multimodal hardware.
ML Infrastructure
● Build distributed infrastructure for multimodal transformers, Vision-Language-Action
models, diffusion policies, and robotics foundation models.
● Optimize GPU utilization, distributed training, storage throughput, and data pipelines.
Platform Engineering
● Build scalable backend systems for data ingestion, storage, retrieval, experiment
tracking, and dataset versioning.
● Build APIs and internal developer tools used across the company.
Required Experience
● Strong software engineering fundamentals
● Strong Python and/or C++
● Experience building production software systems
● Experience with distributed systems or ML infrastructure
● Experience with computer vision or robotics
● Experience with SLAM and/or Visual-Inertial Odometry (VIO)
● Experience building stereo vision pipelines
● Experience with hand tracking, human pose estimation, or 3D perception
● Experience with camera calibration, synchronization, and sensor fusion
● Experience working with multimodal data such as vision, IMUs, tactile sensing, or motion
capture
Experience with one or more of the following:
