Qubera is building the advisor that private banking gives the rich. We pair AI-driven preparation with proactive human advisory on a pure subscription model, no commissions, no product push. Based in Bengaluru, we're an early-stage, founder-led team building the trust layer that we believe becomes the starting point for a consumer-first technology bank in India.
As a founding team member, the Principal Officer won't just fill a compliance seat. They'll help define how Qubera earns and keeps client trust at scale, shape the advisory function's culture and operating model, and build the regulatory and partnership foundation the company will stand on for years.
Role Description
This is a full-time, hybrid role based in Bengaluru (flexibility for work-from-home). You'll be one of the first people in the room, owning compliance and governance for Qubera the way a founder owns a function: end to end, with real decision-making power and real accountability.
Core responsibilities:
- Own Qubera's compliance and governance function as your own, not as a checklist handed down from above
- Build the Principal Officer playbook from scratch: onboarding, suitability, disclosures, recordkeeping, audits, whatever the advisory business needs to run cleanly
- Make the calls on compliance judgment calls yourself, and be comfortable being the final word when it matters
- Be the face of Qubera with regulators and external partners
- Work shoulder to shoulder with the founders on strategy, not just execution
- Hire and shape the compliance function as we grow, setting the tone for how it's done at Qubera
- Bring a finance background to the table so you can speak the same language as the rest of the founding team
Qualification
Required
- NISM Series X-A and X-B (Investment Adviser) certifications, both cleared
- Some experience in finance, investment advisory, or compliance
- Comfortable working independently and taking ownership in a startup with few existing processes
- Strong communication skills, especially with regulators and external stakeholders
Preferred
- Existing RIA (Registered Investment Adviser) license
- Prior experience at a startup, fintech, or financial services company
- Genuine interest in Qubera's mission of building a transparent, subscription-only advisory model for India's underserved mass-affluent segment
