Philonet is building the internet's thinking layer - a platform where reading is no longer a solitary act. We started as a WhatsApp group at XLRI where people shared articles, argued about ideas, and made each other smarter. It grew to 200+ without a single ad. That told us something real: people want to think together, they just haven't had the right place to do it.
We're now building that place - an app where your circle's perspective on what matters actually reaches you, where conversations around articles go deep, and where the best ideas surface through trust rather than algorithm bait. We're early, moving fast, and looking for someone to own how Philonet grows.
The Role
This is a founding growth position. There's no playbook, no team above you, and no committee approvals. You'll be the person who decides how Philonet shows up in the world - on social, in communities, in conversations. You'll run experiments, kill what doesn't work, double down on what does, and move fast enough to actually learn something.
You'll work directly with the founders across user acquisition, content strategy, community building, and on-ground outreach. If Philonet's user base grows, a big part of that is on you.
Responsibilities
- Own Philonet's presence across social platforms - build an audience that actually engages, not just follows
- Identify and activate high-potential communities where curious, intellectually engaged people already gather
- Create content that makes people feel the problem - the loneliness of reading alone, the lost potential of ideas consumed in isolation - and positions Philonet as the natural answer
- Carry the narrative: Philonet is a new category, not a variation of something that already exists. Help people understand what that means, quickly and compellingly
- Run growth experiments across channels and iterate fast based on what the data tells you
- Pitch Philonet to potential users, partners, and communities - in person, on calls, online
- Work closely with product to close the loop between what users want and what we build
- Track what's working, report clearly, and make the next call faster because of it
Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in marketing, growth, or a related role - you've shipped things, not just planned them
- Background in D2C app distribution is strongly preferred - you understand the difference between downloads and retained users
- You live on social networks and understand them structurally: why things spread, what kills engagement, how platforms reward creators right now
- You read seriously and have opinions worth sharing - this is not a bonus, it's a requirement. You need to understand and inhabit the world Philonet is built for
- You can walk into a room, pitch an idea, and get people genuinely interested — whether that's a college auditorium or a Zoom call
- You move fast. You don't wait for perfect conditions to start. You ship, see, and adjust
- Comfortable with ambiguity and excited by it - early stage means the role will evolve, and you should want that
