Founding Engineer
We are hiring a Founding Engineer to help build our core product from the ground up. This is a high-ownership role for someone who wants to work across backend, frontend, infrastructure, and product, while helping define the engineering culture of the company. You will work closely with leadership and domain experts to translate complex healthcare workflows into reliable, scalable, and intuitive software. Success in this role means shipping meaningful product quickly, making strong technical decisions, and building systems that can support long-term growth.
This role is central to the organization. As an early engineering leader, you will not only build product but also shape standards, architecture, and execution. You should be excited by ambiguity, motivated by ownership, and comfortable moving between product thinking and deep technical implementation.
Responsibilities
- Build and ship core product features across backend, frontend, and cloud infrastructure
- Design and implement scalable, reliable, and secure systems for production use
- Translate clinical, operational, and user workflows into software that is practical and easy to use
- Work closely with founders, product stakeholders, and domain experts to define requirements and prioritize execution
- Own technical decisions across architecture, system design, deployment, and operational reliability
- Establish and maintain engineering standards, development practices, and code quality expectations
- Improve system performance, observability, and maintainability over time
- Contribute to product direction by identifying practical ways to deliver user value quickly
- Help build the engineering foundation of the company as an early and highly trusted team member
Qualifications
- Strong software engineering fundamentals with the ability to build production systems end to end
- Experience working across the full stack, including backend systems, web applications, and infrastructure
- Solid understanding of system design, reliability, scalability, and performance
- Strong product mindset with the ability to balance speed, quality, and user needs
- Comfort working in fast-moving, ambiguous, early-stage environments
- Ability to take ownership of problems and drive them through to completion
- Clear verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders
Nice to Have
- Experience with healthcare software, EHR systems, or clinical workflows
- Familiarity with modern AI systems or AI-enabled products
- Experience with security, privacy, and compliance in regulated environments
- Prior startup experience, especially as an early engineering hire
- Experience designing systems that integrate multiple data sources and workflows
