Company Description Ocean AI Platform is building a next-generation terminal designed specifically for AI agents and modern development workflows. The platform allows teams to run tools like Claude, Codex, Aider, and Cursor in isolated sessions, enabling safer, parallel experimentation. Ocean automatically detects conflicts across these sessions, orchestrates merges, and helps ship production-ready code from a single window. Role Description As a Founding Engineer at Ocean AI Platform, you will design, build, and scale core features of the AI terminal product in close collaboration with the founding team. You will work on system architecture, backend and frontend components, integration with AI tools, and developer experience improvements. Daily responsibilities include writing production-quality code, reviewing peer contributions, setting engineering standards, and helping define the technical roadmap. You will also collaborate with users to gather feedback, debug complex issues, and iterate quickly on product functionality. This is a full-time, on-site role based in Mumbai, with significant ownership and impact on the company’s technical direction.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in software engineering, with proficiency in at least one modern programming language (e.g., TypeScript, Python, or Rust).
- Experience with backend systems, APIs, and distributed architectures, including designing reliable and scalable services.
- Comfort with frontend development and building intuitive developer-facing interfaces using modern frameworks (e.g., React, Vue, or similar).
- Familiarity with AI tools, LLMs, or developer tooling ecosystems (e.g., terminals, IDEs, code review systems) and interest in AI-assisted development.
- Strong debugging, testing, and code quality practices, including unit/integration testing and performance optimization.
- Proven track record of building production applications from absolute scratch (greenfield development) to deployment.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced startup environment, take ownership, and collaborate closely with product, design, and other engineers.
- Eagerness and curiosity to learn and build in Rust for performance-critical native features, low-latency backends, and IPC runtimes.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience; prior startup or founding team experience is a plus.

The Sandbox Challenge: Candidates will have a 48-hour practical assessment using Ocean (an AI-native terminal application). You will build a project, record a workflow walkthrough, provide architectural/UX feedback on Ocean, and propose features to increase developer velocity by 40%.
