Company Description Synthetic-People is a customer understanding platform that models real-world choices using millions of behavioral signals and neuroscience insights. The company builds calibrated personas that simulate how users evaluate products, messaging, and trade-offs under real decision pressure and emotional context. Teams use Synthetic-People to explore how decisions may unfold before launching campaigns or running traditional fieldwork.
Role Description This is a full-time Founding Cognitive Neuroscientist role based in Bengaluru, offered in a remote model for now, with flexibility for some work from home. As a founding team member, you will design and conduct cognitive and computational neuroscience research to model decision-making in realistic customer contexts. You will translate lab and literature insights into scalable algorithms, experimental paradigms, and validation frameworks for Synthetic-People’s simulation platform. Day-to-day, you will collaborate with data scientists and engineers to integrate neural and behavioral data, interpret EEG and related signals, and refine persona models based on empirical findings. You will also help define research roadmaps, contribute to publications and documentation, and build best practices for ethical, reproducible neuroscience within the company.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in Cognitive Neuroscience and Neuroscience, with a focus on decision-making, attention, emotion, or consumer behavior.
- Demonstrated experience in Computational Neuroscience, including modeling behavior or neural processes and working with quantitative methods.
- Hands-on experience with EEG or similar neurophysiological methods (designing experiments, preprocessing, and analyzing neural data).
- Proven research skills, including experimental design, statistical analysis, literature synthesis, and clear scientific writing.
- Advanced degree (PhD or equivalent experience) in Neuroscience, Cognitive Science, Psychology, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field.
- Proficiency with analysis tools such as Python, MATLAB, or R, and familiarity with common neuroscience and machine learning libraries.
- Ability to collaborate in cross-functional teams, communicate complex concepts to non-experts, and work in a fast-paced startup environment.
- Experience with applied or industry-facing research, especially in customer behavior, marketing science, or product testing, is a plus.
- Commitment to ethical research practices, data privacy, and inclusive, non-discriminatory approaches to modeling human behavior.
