About Alpha Nodus
Alpha Nodus builds Gravity, an AI-powered automation platform for outpatient diagnostic imaging centers and radiology practices in the US. Gravity sits across a center's existing RIS, PACS, EHR and payer portals and takes ownership of the work a payer requires, a person has to do, and no system owns — prior authorization, eligibility verification, document processing, scheduling and patient registration. Our engineering team is based in Bangalore, our customers are in the US, and we have been at this since 2015.
Job description
We are hiring a Forward Deployed Engineer to own the technical side of bringing new customers onto Gravity and keeping them successful after go-live. You will sit between our customers and our product team: you scope what a new imaging center actually needs, you build the integrations and custom work that get them live, and you turn what you learn into product changes that make the next implementation easier.
This is an engineering role, not a support or pre-sales role. You will write production code most weeks — integration Lambdas, HL7 and FHIR mappings, data migrations, tenant configuration — and you will also sit on customer calls, read their workflows and explain trade-offs to an operations director who has never seen a JSON payload. You need to be comfortable in both rooms.
You will work from our Bangalore office on a schedule aligned to US business hours, because your customers are US imaging centers and the fastest path to a solved problem is being on the call when they are.
Key responsibilities
Discovery and implementation
- Lead technical discovery with new customers: map their current workflow across RIS, PACS, EHR and payer portals, identify what Gravity will own, and document the integration scope.
- Own the implementation from kickoff to go-live: tenant setup, configuration, data loads, interface testing and cutover.
- Set clear expectations with customers on scope, timeline and what "done" means, and hold both sides to them.
Custom integrations and engineering
- Design and build customer-specific integrations — HL7 over Mirth, FHIR, vendor REST APIs, SFTP feeds — using our TypeScript, AWS and PostgreSQL stack.
- Write production-quality code for custom work that a customer needs and the core product does not yet do, with the tests, monitoring and documentation that let someone else maintain it.
- Diagnose and fix integration and data issues end to end: read the logs, trace the message, find the line, ship the fix.
Product feedback loop
- Know Gravity deeply enough to solve most customer problems inside the product as it exists today — a configuration, a workflow change, a feature they did not know they had.
- When the product falls short, write the smallest well-scoped change that solves it, and make the case to the product team with the customer evidence behind it. Many of these you will ship yourself.
- Recognize when three customers are asking for the same custom thing and turn it into a product feature rather than a fourth custom build.
Customer ownership
- Act as the technical escalation point for your customers post-go-live; partner with customer success on anything that is not a code or configuration problem.
- Keep implementation runbooks, integration specs and tenant documentation current so the team's knowledge does not live in one head.
Requirements
- 6+ years of professional software engineering experience, including 3+ years in a customer-facing engineering role (implementation, integration, solutions or forward deployed engineering).
- Strong backend proficiency in TypeScript and Node.js, hands-on AWS experience (Lambda, ECS, RDS, S3, SQS/SNS), and working knowledge of PostgreSQL.
- Experience integrating with third-party systems over APIs, message queues or file interfaces in a production setting.
- Ability to run a technical discovery conversation, write a clear scope, and explain a technical trade-off to a non-technical stakeholder in plain language.
- Comfort owning ambiguous problems end to end — from "the customer says orders are not showing up" to a root cause and a shipped fix.
- Excellent written and spoken English; most of your customer communication will be written.
- Based in Bangalore, or willing to relocate, and able to work from our office on a schedule aligned to US Eastern or Central business hours.
Nice to have
- Healthcare integration experience: HL7 v2, FHIR, Mirth Connect, or working with a RIS, PACS, EHR or practice management system.
- Familiarity with US healthcare workflows — prior authorization, eligibility, scheduling, medical necessity, claims — or a strong desire to learn them fast.
- Experience with event-driven and serverless architectures (CQRS, SNS/SQS fan-out).
- Experience building or operating LLM-based features in production, including MCP.
What this role is not
- Not an AI research or prompt-engineering role. Gravity uses AI heavily, but your job is getting real imaging centers live and successful on it.
- Not pre-sales. You will not carry a quota or run demos for prospects; you start work once a customer has signed.
- Not tier-1 support. You are the escalation point, and you fix the root cause rather than the ticket.

Role Description The Forward Deployed Engineer is a full-time, on-site role based in Bengaluru. This role involves working closely with customers and internal teams to deploy, customize, and support Alpha Nodus products in real-world healthcare environments. Responsibilities include implementing and integrating software solutions, troubleshooting technical issues, optimizing system performance, and ensuring reliable operation of the Gravity AI and related services. The engineer will collaborate with product, data, and clinical teams to translate user needs into technical requirements, develop features, and validate solutions in live settings. The role also includes creating technical documentation, providing training or guidance to customer teams, and continuously improving deployment processes.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in Computer Science, including data structures, algorithms, and software engineering principles.
- Proficiency in Software Development and Programming, with experience in at least one modern programming language (such as Java, Python, or C++).
- Hands-on experience with Back-End Web Development, including APIs, databases, and server-side frameworks.
- Solid understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) concepts and ability to design maintainable, modular code.
- Experience deploying and supporting software in production environments, preferably in customer-facing or field engineering roles.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms, CI/CD pipelines, and monitoring tools is beneficial.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work on-site with cross-functional teams and customers.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Interest in healthcare technology and improving patient journeys; prior healthcare or SaaS experience is an advantage.
