Forward Deployed AI Engineer (FDE) - Build the AI operating layer for India's next-generation asset-management infrastructure

The Opportunity
Validus is building next-generation technology infrastructure for the asset management industry across Mutual Funds, AIFs and PMS. Our ambition is to use AI not merely to build software faster, but to fundamentally reimagine how Investor & Distributor servicing operates
We want to progressively put every meaningful business process and use case across Mutual Funds and Alternative Investment Funds to AI—so that, over time, a platform capable of servicing hundreds of Mutual Funds and thousands of AIFs can operate with remarkably small teams.
We are looking for a small group of exceptional Forward Deployed AI Engineers who can help make this happen. This is not a consulting role and not an AI research role. You will code, build and deploy real AI solutions while working directly with our Product, Engineering and Business teams.
What You Will Do
1. Build & deploy
Take real business problems and rapidly turn them into working solutions using LLMs, agents, RAG, APIs, data pipelines, workflow automation and conventional software engineering. Take solutions from idea and prototype through to production.
2. Put business problems to AI
Work deeply across Mutual Fund and AIF operations to identify business processes, exceptions, reconciliations, servicing requirements, compliance activities, analytics and other use cases that can be solved, automated or transformed using AI. The objective is not incremental automation, but dramatically reducing human intervention while improving scale, accuracy and service
3. Make our engineers AI-native
Pair with our existing engineering teams and help them move beyond simply using tools such as Claude for code generation. Build their capabilities in AI-native architecture, agentic workflows, context engineering, evals, guardrails, observability and production deployment.
4. Build reusable capability
Turn successful solutions into scalable components and product capabilities that can operate across hundreds or thousands of clients rather than becoming one-off implementations.
5. Experiment at speed
Continuously explore new models, frameworks and AI approaches. Prototype quickly, discard what doesn't work and productionise what creates meaningful business value.
Who We Are Looking For
You should have at least 2-5 years of hands-on engineering experience and strong fundamentals in areas such as Python, APIs, databases, cloud, backend/full-stack development or data engineering.
We particularly value engineers who have already taken real business problems and use cases and solved them using AI, rather than limiting AI to coding assistance or conventional product development. You should be excited by the challenge of understanding an unfamiliar business process, questioning why it requires people today, and determining how AI, agents and automation can perform most of that work at scale.
More than credentials, we value business problem-solving, engineering ability, curiosity, speed of learning and ownership. Experience in fintech, financial services or asset management is useful, but not mandatory.

For the right candidates, we are open to a ownership driven compensation structure. We want people who would rather help create substantial enterprise value than optimise only for the highest immediate salary. For our initial hires, we are also open to the designation Founding Forward Deployed AI Engineer.
What Success Looks Like
Within 6–12 months, you should have converted multiple human-intensive business processes into production-grade AI workflows, shipped reusable capabilities across our platform, and helped our broader engineering organisation become capable of doing the same independently.
Our destination is simple: a highly intelligent RTA platform capable of supporting hundreds of Mutual Funds and thousands of AIFs with a fraction of the people traditionally required.
