The Role:
We are seeking a senior engineer to take AI-driven workflows (primarily LLM-based) from validated prototypes into production systems across Forge’s core platform. This role focuses on embedding AI into real business workflows while contributing to shared AI services and data systems.
This role requires hands-on experience operating AI-driven functionality in production environments (integration, observability, and ongoing performance management), as well as experience working with graph databases or similar systems used for modeling and querying complex relationships between entities.
Location: This role requires 2-3 days a week in office in Soho, NY.
Responsibilities:
- 6–10+ years of software engineering experience, with a strong focus on backend or systems engineering
- Demonstrated experience deploying AI/LLM-powered functionality into production systems (not prototypes or demos)
- End-to-end ownership from prototype → integration → production release
- Strong experience building and operating scalable backend services
- Experience integrating AI workflows into existing application or platform architectures
- Hands-on experience with observability, failure handling, and performance management in production systems
- Experience managing prompt or model iteration in production (versioning, evaluation, rollback)
- Hands-on experience building and deploying LLM systems that incorporate retrieval of external or structured data (e.g., RAG or similar architectures) in production environments
- Experience working with graph databases or similar systems used for modeling and querying complex relationships between entities
Qualifications:
- Production of AI/LLM-powered workflows into scalable backend services and platform integrations
- Integrate AI functionality into existing systems (APIs, data services, internal tools)
- Design systems combining deterministic logic, LLM-driven outputs, and structured or relationship-based data retrieval
- Build and maintain supporting services for AI usage (e.g., routing layers, logging, cost controls) where appropriate
- Implement observability for AI systems (logging, tracing, monitoring, alerting)
- Manage prompt/model changes with versioning, evaluation, and controlled rollout
- Handle latency, cost, and reliability trade-offs in AI-driven features
- Design and work with graph-based or relationship-driven data systems to support entity resolution and retrieval workflows
- Partner with product and domain stakeholders to translate workflows into production systems
Preferred Skills (Nice-to-Have)
- Experience combining LLM workflows with graph-based or hybrid retrieval systems
- Experience with graph databases at scale (e.g., Neo4j, Amazon Neptune, or similar)
- Experience designing shared services or platform components (e.g., API layers, routing/orchestration systems)
- Experience in regulated or high-accuracy environments (e.g., financial services)
