Foot Locker’s Global Foundational Technology team is driving digital transformation across our retail store and corporate technology environments. The Director, Network Engineering will be a catalyst for technology transformation and responsible for leading a talented team of engineers who collectively demonstrate technical excellence, reliability in delivering business critical enterprise network infrastructure, and who continually ensure the highest levels of availability, optimization, and operational excellence. The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated and organized individual with excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to coach and mentor others, while displaying strong expertise in enterprise network infrastructure. This position is accountable for defining and executing a global Network Engineering strategy that provides best-in-class technology experiences across our Enterprise and Retail Store environments. Responsibilities Build and manage a world class global Network Engineering team, develop and execute on long-term strategy, drive innovative solutions into Network infrastructure, champion automation across network platforms, and ensure successful operational excellence for supported technologies Drive strategy and portfolio for Network technology; Provide stable and reliable data communications for all enterprise and retail store locations, focused on redundancy, resiliency, reliability, and secure network connectivity Plan, build, and support large scale network infrastructures for Foot Locker data centers, offices, voice, remote access, firewall, and cloud Lead enterprise edge networking strategy and operations (CDN, WAF, bot protection), delivering secure, scalable, and highly available global traffic ingress through integrated DNS, cloud networks, traffic management, observability, vendor governance and cost optimization aligned to business and IT Security objectives Effectively manages the global Network Engineering team by partnering with IT teams and delivering solutions that allow the organization to transform and achieve business outcomes Attract and retain exceptional global talent; Build high performing resources and teams through a shared purpose and mission; Manage staff by recruiting, mentoring, and growing our associates; Develops personal growth opportunities and manages team performance for managers and engineers Drives self-healing and automation across all Network Engineering technologies; Continuously improve and develop global standards for enterprise and store networks Develop, mature, and generate exec-level reporting on metrics and data points Works closely with IT stakeholders and vendors to design and recommend improved technical architecture for global Network technology Participate in the Architecture and Security Review Boards to ensure that all technologies being implemented follow Foot Locker’s standards and best practices Recommends information technology strategies, policies, and procedures by evaluating organization outcomes; identifying problems; evaluating trends; anticipating requirements Accountable for ongoing Networking Engineering budget planning and execution Maintains professional and technical external focus by attending and leading practice areas and centers of excellence; reviewing and evaluating new technologies; promoting knowledge sharing across the organization Provide technical leadership and be a top-level escalation contact for critical outages; Manage and drive adherence to service management support processes (ITSM, Incident, Problem, Change processes) Ensure teams meet standards for excellence in IT, ensuring all work is completed on time following proper change management guidelines, and completing all necessary documentation and updates Communicate with senior leaders and business leaders on projects statuses or tasks that are supporting projects Qualifications SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE: Senior management and leadership experience implementing, managing, and maintaining Network infrastructure Strong expertise and knowledge of large enterprise network infrastructures, including Cisco, Arista, Juniper, and Palo Alto Expert knowledge of data/voice communications in a large enterprise Expert knowledge of cloud network infrastructure, SDWAN, CDN, WAF, and other emerging network technology Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills Evangelizes modern technologies to internal product teams, stakeholders, and executives Influential leadership with the ability to partner, inspire, and build consensus Proven success in teaching, coaching and mentoring engineers and other technical team members Evangelize ideas, creates strategy aligned to the business mission with impact and positive outcome Builds trust across the teams through competence, reliability, sincerity, caring, and empathy Continuously reflects on success and failures to improve performance and decision-making Establishes vision, identifies and champions internal and external best practices, tools, and ideas to improve execution and quality Uses critical thinking skills and disciplined approaches to help teams resolve issues and drive solutions Builds a culture of continual learning and fosters an environment of learning new ways to do things Exhibits creativity and new ways of thinking when contributing to organizational and individual objectives Knowledge of ITIL v3 framework including Change, Incident, and Problem management  MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, and/or equivalent IT experience Minimum 7 years of progressive experience and demonstrated success leading a Network Engineering and Network Operations team Experience leading an enterprise network infrastructure team, with a focus on delivering complete infrastructure solutions from small branch offices to large global corporate locations Ability to travel up to 10% At Foot Locker, we value innovation, authenticity, and integrity in all that we do. This range represents the anticipated low and high end of the salary for this position. This role is also eligible to receive short term incentives that align with individual and company performance. Salary will be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
