Role Description
This is a part-time 100% REMOTE consultant role for a Food Technologist who will be responsible for conducting sensory evaluations, developing and refining food products, performing thorough quality control assessments, and ensuring compliance with regulatory and safety standards. The Food Technologist role may involve laboratory work, research, and development to maintain product integrity and innovate within the nutraceutical space.
🧪Key Responsibilities for a Food Technologist:
1️⃣ Product Development
- Develop new superfood and herbal blends or ready to drink (immunity, metabolism, kids, women-focused, etc.)
- Create export-ready clean-label formulations
- Optimize taste, solubility, texture, and aroma
- Ensure formulations are 100% food-grade and FSSAI compliant
2️⃣ R&D & Validation
- Ingredient compatibility testing
- Shelf-life estimation & stability testing guidance
- Nutritional profiling
- Standardization of active ingredients
3️⃣ Regulatory & Compliance
- Support FSSAI product categorization
- Guide correct HSN classification (India GST)
- Label claim validation (immunity, metabolism, etc.)
- Ensure compliance with Indian & export norms (if applicable)
4️⃣ Manufacturing Support
- Convert kitchen-scale recipe into commercial batch formula
- Provide Batch Manufacturing Record (BMR)
- Assist in vendor/manufacturer selection
- Quality control SOP creation
5️⃣ Documentation
- Finalized formulation sheet
- COA parameter checklist
- Raw material specifications
- Packaging compatibility guidance
🎓 Required Qualifications for a Food Technologist:
B.Tech / M.Tech / MSc in:
- Food Technology
- Food Science
- Nutraceuticals
- Food Processing
2+ years experience in:
- Functional foods
- Herbal products
- Nutraceutical formulation
- Ayurvedic or superfood blends (preferred)
⭐ Preferred Experience for a Food Technologist
Experience working with:
- Herbal extracts
- Superfood powders (moringa, spirulina, wheatgrass, amla, etc.), Shilajit resin and various other products.
- Clean-label formulations
- Export documentation
- Prior startup or consulting exposure preferred
