Job Purpose:
The POW or Produce on Wheels Program Specialist provides overall program delivery, data management and administrative support of the POW program. POW is the Produce on Wheels program, designed to meet the unique needs of our aging population by providing access to fresh fruits and vegetables, nutrition education, and additional supportive services. This will be done through onsite, small scale distributions at identified senior apartment complexes and other locations where seniors gather, throughout Northern Nevada.
Essential Duties include but are not limited to:
- Direct outreach and interaction with individual clients.
- Identify sites and run distributions monthly.
- Manage data in FBNN software programs, as well as other software programs that may be required for program compliance.
- Become fluent in program grant requirements, if applicable.
- Submit all required grant reports in a timely fashion. If applicable.
- Work directly with SNWP coordinator to coordinate shared resources.
- Work with all FBNN staff and Programs department members to coordinate, strategize and plan program implementation and best practices.
- Communicate all program updates or changes at both the local, State, and Federal level to all partners and to FBNN.
Supervisory Responsibility:
This job has no supervisory duties.

- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle, feel, or operate objects, tools or controls, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to sit for long periods while driving, walk, stand, talk and hear. Able to lift 60 pounds. Repetitive squatting, bending, balancing, crouching, stooping, lifting and twisting required. Work in refrigerated units at temperatures below 30 degrees and as low as -5 degrees. Able to work in year round outdoor conditions.
- Coordinator may be required to push/pull pallets up to 2,000 lbs. with use of electric pallet jack.
- Coordinator must have ability to frequently operate and navigate a vehicle throughout urban, suburban and rural communities, maneuver truck into parking lots and neighborhoods where distributions occur and drive on two-lane rural roads and mountain passes.
- Driver must be knowledgeable in the installation and removal of tire chains in the instance of inclement weather.
Travel:
Local travel to various events may be required.

Requirements
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Strong organization skills and attention to detail.
- Ability and desire to work outdoors daily, for several hours at a time and year-round in a variety of weather conditions (cold, heat, precipitation, etc.)
- Ability and patience to sit for long periods of time entering data.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to communicate and coordinate with volunteers at field sites to instruct them on how to properly handle food, food safety, client’s interactions, etc.
- Able to take direction well, using active listening skills, asking questions and taking notes if necessary.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to travel long distances in and around Northern Nevada in a company vehicle.
- Excellent computer skills (database, word processing, spread sheet, email and Internet experience).
- Excellent phone etiquette.
- Excellent public relations and customer service skills.
- Ability to perform as an effective, positive team member.
- Impeccable ethical business practices.
Qualifications
Required Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Associates Degree or Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
- Two years previous related experience delivering programs to community members
- Valid Nevada driver’s license and proof of satisfactory driving record.
- Ability to safely drive and operate a refrigerated vehicle, 15 to 20-foot truck.
