Role Description The Shift Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in Mumbai, responsible for leading the team and overseeing daily bakery operations during assigned shifts. This role includes supervising staff, assigning duties, and ensuring smooth workflow across the counter, kitchen, and service areas. The Shift Manager monitors product quality and display, manages inventory levels for ingredients and packaging, and coordinates with the kitchen team to maintain stock of baked items. Day-to-day tasks include handling customer queries and escalations, ensuring compliance with hygiene and safety standards, managing cash handling and basic reports, and supporting training of new team members. The Shift Manager is expected to maintain a positive work environment, help optimize service speed, and support store leadership in meeting sales and service goals.
Qualifications
- Experience in shift or floor management within retail, hospitality, or food service, with the ability to supervise and motivate a diverse team.
- Strong customer service skills, including handling feedback and resolving issues professionally and calmly.
- Basic operational and administrative skills such as cash handling, preparing simple shift reports, and managing inventory and stock rotation.
- Knowledge of food safety, hygiene practices, and workplace safety standards in a bakery or F&B environment.
- Effective communication skills in English and local languages, with the ability to coordinate between front-of-house and kitchen staff.
- Proven ability to work on-site in a fast-paced environment, including weekends, holidays, and peak hours as required.
- Prior experience in a bakery, café, patisserie, or similar setting is preferred; a diploma or certification in hospitality or food service is an advantage.
