Rate of Pay: $19.34 to $20.94 hourly
Responsibilities
- Provides casework management of an assigned caseload of Head Start Families.
- Engages in a process of identifying family goals, strengths, and necessary services, by providing each family the opportunity to participate in developing and implementing individualized family partnership agreements.
- Monitors progress of each family partnership agreement to ensure each family is making progress toward their goals.
- Provides direct services to families in making necessary social service and parent involvement referrals and follow-up.
- Conducts home visits as needed.
- Acts as liaison between community agencies and Head Start families and staff.
- Establishes and maintains a current record keeping system with adequate provision for confidentiality.
- Serves as a resource person to staff and parents to provide supplemental services to families and children.
- Secures resources required to meet Family and Community Partnership needs of children and their families.
- Provides advocacy for social services that are unavailable to Head Start Families by acting as a catalyst to facilitate action and by helping parents become active advocates for their children.
- Promotes positive interaction between families and other area resources, empowering parents/guardians to confidently represent them.
- Assists Head Start Families with the transition services (enrollment, transfer records, etc).
- Assists Head Start Families in obtaining health-screening (including mental health and nutrition) examinations, dental exams, and treatment follow-up for their children as required by performance standards.
- Identifies recruitment sources.
- Participates in child recruitment.
- Determines child eligibility and assist in enrollment and classroom placement.
- Maintains enrollment files on all Head Start children.
- Monitors Head Start children’s attendance to ensure compliance with ADA (average daily attendance).
- Assists with the preparation and tracking of “PIR” (Program Information Report).
- Assists with coordination of Foster Grandparent Program.
- Assists with recruiting, coordinating, and implementing volunteer activities.
- Facilitates parent involvement activities within the program.
- Organizes and carry out parent training activities.
- Assists pregnant women and their families in accessing comprehensive prenatal and postpartum care per referrals.
- Establishes/participates in Head Start Advisory/Community Committees to help agencies respond to community needs.
- Maintains a welcoming environment with literacy services for Head Start Families within the Parent Resource Room.
- Tracks resource materials, brochures, and develops display areas for current events and parent education/trainings.
- Assists in the development of the Head Start Monthly Newsletter article for Family Services.
- Displays a responsive and professional manner in promptly responding to all requests, complaints, and problems.
- Recognizes that each employee is a representative of the Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa and is responsible for demonstrating courtesy, respect, and sensitivity to the needs of all others, including visitors and co-workers.
- Represents the Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa and the department in a positive and professional manner in the community.
- Required to maintain proper attendance including reporting to work on time in accordance with applicable policies.
- Maintains a clean and organized work area.
- Due to changes and modifications in the job from time to time, employees are required to be flexible and assume other responsibilities assigned by management as deemed necessary.
Qualifications
- No Driver’s License Required
- AA Degree is required. (BA Degree is desired).
- Two or more years’ experience working with families is preferred.
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing is required.
- Ability to work independently and establish priorities is required.
- Attention to detail and accuracy is required.
- Ability to establish professional and harmonious working relationships on all projects and with all parties involved.
- Subject to drug and alcohol testing in accordance with the Fond du Lac Reservation’s Personnel Policies.
- Subject to pre-employment and annual background checks.
